He's a point forward. Defensively, whichever he's better at. We'll have to see.

And White seems like what Diaw can do on his best day, if that makes any sense. Diaw has good post sense, good passing, etc. About the same height too, right?

Remember that when the Hawks drafted Diaw, he played a decent amount of SF for a while. I think Royce could do the same. Probably play SF/PF hybrid for a few years until his body is ready to transition to full-time PF/C or stick at SF.

Hell, even Jamison and Odom were SF's at one point. Lots of guys move over later in their careers.

yeah that was my thinking when I posted it but I figured people would respond with a bunch of nonsense so I didn't bother

Actually, I think Diaw even played SG for a short while in Atlanta and we all know he played every position in Phoenix. I don't know if Royce is as versatile but it's not a negative to have a player like that on a team. The last thing you want to do is force a player into a position; we tried that this year with Tyrus. It doesn't work.

If Waiters has "earned" a lotto selection (as the rumors suggest), I don't think it's out of the question that Royce could go that high too. We're already seeing a couple of guys drop, including Perry Jones, drop down in mocks. It's going to be a crap shoot of crap shoots this year.

Diaw came to Atlanta as a 6'8 combo guard. I think it's great to have a guy like Diaw on the roster who can contribute in so many different ways, I just want someone less lazy than Diaw. I was hoping Royce would drop to us at the 31, but with his stock rising into the 10s, that's looking really unlikely.

Yeah whatever happens with Royce I'll definitely enjoy watching him in the NBA.

EDIT: Which is why I enjoy the NBA so much. You can be a fan of players, teams, everything, and it just heightens the experience.

HOOPS WORLD
Big, strong and versatile. Can play either forward position. Does just about everyone on the floor. Has superb playmaking skills for a big man.

We can't afford to pass on this guy, he's going to be next Wilt Chamberlain.

"Royce White’s beard is inspired by his favorite Beatle.

"John Lennon," White said when asked if the beard he sprouted since completing his lone season at Iowa State is homage to James Harden. "Philosophically and inspirationally, I connect with him."

Even if I'm not personally impressed with John Lennon, this guy gets more and more interesting every time he's in the news.

EDIT: I also read that he has the largest hands at the combine

From watching his highlights (not going to lie, haven't watched a ISU game all year...why would I?) he reminds me a lot of a less athletic Blake Griffin. And when I compare players, I am doing it off their play style and strengths and weakness not on how I think they will produce numbers wise. He can dribble and maneuver around people like BG, can get to rim like BG, he can pass and rebound like BG, and he can't shoot like BG.

I think he's a better passer, worse shooter, and better ball handler. also size and speed goes to BG I guess, but you don't really notice it with Royce and there are no combine numbers.

That is a pretty good comparison in terms of game style. Keep in mind that White is much heavier at 270 and if he slipped down to about 255 he'd be more athletic (he's still pretty athletic as is, just not BG level obviously). Like Crunk said, his passing and vision is much better than Blake's and I think he has a better low post game. Blake's a better shooter.

I love Royce. Having watched most of his games this year I can say without a doubt he is better in the post than BG. RW reminds me of Barkley in the post. Barkley was one of the best ever at passing out of double teams. Royce does this very well also. He also has the back down spin to either side and finish with a dunk down. His perimeter jumper is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Though his free throw shooting is awful.

Do you see him as a SF or a PF hotrod?

From what I've seen no way he plays at sf.
