try it next time you go out.

Try reading comprehension courses, and being less disingenuous in your posts. The point I'm making is clear, you don't need a specific law to combat every manner of violation. For example, most traffic laws (moving violations, speeding, stuff like that) could be boiled down to reckless driving. They aren't because it's tougher to prove that than it is to say someone was x amount of miles over the proscribed limit. They do so because they have to prove these things in the courts.

In the NBA, you only see that kind of specificity on the court (where people are held very much accountable at all times). There probably isn't a list of words Kobe isn't allowed to say near a microphone, but they fine him anyway. This is clearly a matter of difference of degree. In none of the other examples given did the situation stack up.

Reading comprehension????

They seem like pretty clear statements to me. Whatever point you're trying to make, maybe you should have thought up better examples.

I hate arguing on the internet, but I couldn't help but comment. Silly me for taking the bait I suppose.

There are laws against different parts of the action but the action itself hasn't been made specifically illegal. Look at my comparison with speeding and reckless driving. Speeding is illegal even if there's no specific law against speeding. Of course you're still driving recklessly (and rubbing genitals on people in public is illegal whether they're the first lady or not).

So, to get this thread back to more pertinent off topic fare, I was on espn yesterday and I see an Old Spice banner ad with an animated Dikembe Mutombo shooting lasers out of his eyes and also equipped with the shoulder fired laser weapon from the Predator movies.

Intrigued, I click on it and spent the next 20 minutes enjoying Old Spice’s most clever marketing Gimmick to date:

“Dikembe Mutombo’s 4.5 Weeks to Save the World”

http://www.oldspicesavestheworld.com/

Its basically an 8bit NES style game Old Spice created using Flash where you play as Dikembe Mutombo to save the world. Mutombo lends his voice talent and they release a new level every week in countdown to the end of the world (according to the Mayan calander).

The level select screen pops up after you start the game - start with the island on the far left. Highly recommended to waste time at work.

I have heard a lot about that game, haven't tried it out myself yet.

Is this the first time the word "Bobcats" has been said in the same room that Bill Simmons is in?

This thread made me realize how all those oddly specific laws came to exist.

Also it reminded me Parsons dunking on McGee and "rubbing his genitals non consensually against McGee's face in public".

Vince Carter tried to rub his genitals non consensually against Frederic Weiss's face. He just missed a little.

But that was outside of US jurisdiction, right?

That satirical incongruity was not unintentional. Glad somebody picked up on it.

Anxious to see what Old Spice has up their sleeve next. Perhaps a call to Keith Van Horn and Oliver Miller to gauge their interest in portraying a crime fighting duo?

Ha, at least he tried to make things right by amending his name at the last second after realizing his faux pas

does anyone on here listen to The Basketball Jones podcast? It's what a basketball junkie like me just needs - a podcast for Monday through Friday. Anyway, yesterday they all agreed that they love the way Bobcats games are broadcast. Steve Martin supposedly is a great play-by-play announcer, both he and Dell are up to date with everything happening around the league, Steph is a good sideline reporter and we play plenty of highlights for both teams as well as our guys will give credit to the road team's players. I found it interesting that they should say so. I had never thought about our crew being very good.

I don't know how much bias I have, but I feel like Steve/Dell/Steph are better than the vast majority of other team's groups I've listened to.

It might be because we're the bobcats, but I usually feel slighted (for the team) listening to other teams' announcers. "Did you know the bobcats suck and I never watch them?" "Me too! Back to Carmelo and why we're a championship team, no really we are, Denver all the way!"

And then game over. Maybe 65% of away games are like that.

Byron "Don't Call me BJ" Mullens :D

But yeah I thought it was interesting how pro our commentary crew they were.

Other announcers show zero emotion for the opposing team no matter how awesome the highlight is. Remember the Wolves' announcer's voice didn't even change when Kemba crossed up two defenders sank the game-winning shot? There are too many of those. At least our guys show some enthusiasm both ways.
