The "Hammer" of the Game Awards 2012/13 - Cumulative Results

Post#1 » by fatlever » Wed Oct 31, 2012 5:40 pm

After each game will will vote for the Hammer of the Game Awards (Bobcats players only). The voting will be open for 24 hours after the end of each game (or longer if i am being lazy). Fans from the opposing teams are encouraged to vote, just remember the vote is for the best Bobcats (even if your team beats us by 30).

Points
Gold Hammer (3) = best player of the game
Silver Hammer (2) = second best player of the game
Bronze Hammer (1) = third best player of the game

Player with the most points gets a gold hammer, player with the second most points get a silver hammer and the player with the third most points gets a bronze hammer. In the event of a tie, both players will be awarded the higher hammer for win and the lower hammer for losses. If two players tie for a bronze in a loss, only the gold and silver will be awarded (I just cant justify 4 hammers for a loss).

Gold Hammer = 3pts
Silver Hammer = 2pts
Bronze Hammer = 1pt

- Votes must be clear and follow the points listed above with 3 being the best (and so forth)
- Votes must have a best, second best and third best. If you do not list 3 players, your vote will not count. If you list more than 3 players, your vote will not count. If you list a tie, your vote will not count. Votes for anything other than our players, will not count.

baring injury i think kemba is going to break the record for hammers in a season (104). he has 48 through only 28 games.

i think wallace actually had a better hammer total than 104, perhaps back in 2006-7 but those hammer threads are lost.

http://web.archive.org/web/200705150143 ... 5dbfda70c9
found it

He had 102 in 06/07 when you updated it on april 30 of 2007.

Player - #gold, #silver, #bronze = total points
Gerald Wallace - 27g,8s,6b = 102
Emeka Okafor - 14g,13s,13b = 81
Raymond Felton - 8g,16s,9b = 65
Matt Carroll - 8g,7s,5b = 43
Walter Herrmann - 5g,8s,3b = 34
Adam Morrison - 2g,7s,9b = 29
Sean May - 4g,2s,1b = 18
Brevin Knight - 7s,3b = 17
Derek Anderson - 1g,1s,5b = 10
Jake Voskuhl - 4s,1b = 9
Alan Anderson - 2s = 4
Melvin Ely (traded) - 1g = 3
Ryan Hollins - 2b = 2
Primoz Brezec - 1s = 2
Jeff McInnis - 2b = 2
Bernard Robinson (traded) - 1s = 2
Othello Harrington - 1b = 1

for 2008, here's your april 19 edit

Player: # of Hammers = Total

Jason Richardson: 29g,14s,8b = 123
Emeka Okafor: 13g,19s,11b = 86
Raymond Felton: 11g,13s,18b = 79
Gerald Wallace: 15g,11s,9b = 76
Matt Carroll: 4g,7s,7b = 33
Jared Dudley: 3g,6s,7b = 28
Nazr Mohammed" 1g,6s,2b = 17
Derek Anderson: 1g,3b = 6
Walter Herrmann: 2s = 4
Earl Boykins: 1s,1b = 3
Jamereo Davidson 1s,1b = 3
Ryan Hollins: 2b = 2
Jeff McInnis: 1b = 1

so 123 for Richardson in 08 is our record best.

also that took me like 40 minutes to find, so worth it though to see j rich managed 123. 2 more golds than wallace had in 07 as well

nice work JT. thanks.

it was jrich. i remembered someone having a big hammer total, but i just assumed it was crash. i forgot that jrich carried that team in 08 due to wallace missing so much time with injuries and with vincent screwing around with felton.

an interesting stat could be total # of hammers divided by games without a hammer (of course skipping injuries). Kind of like a hammer per contest to get a baseline sort of feel.

Thought it would be interesting to show games played next to each player.

So I did.

Thanks Slam, a comment today in the game thread about the prospects outplaying the vets had me thinking we could show splits between the vets and prospects, as a total in the hammers I mean.

I honestly feel the Hammers are the best indicator of who our best and most consistent players are, over the course of a season.

Combining the hammers (through to the Sixers game) of Kemba,MKG,Mullens,Biyombo,Adrien and Taylor verses the total of Sessions,Henderson,Gordon,Haywood,Warrick,Thomas,Diop and Williams.

Take in account there are 6 "prospects" and 8 "vets" counted in these totals.

PROSPECTS:

173 points at an average of 28.83 points

VETS:

122 points at an average of 15.25 points

Remember the average is Hammer total points divided by number of players by status.

The results are surprising provided the Vets have arguably more hype and quality, ie, Henderson, Sessions, Gordon, Tyrus and Haywood over Kemba, Gilchrist, Mullens, Biyombo and Taylor.

final results are done. kemba shatters the hammers record for a single season. that speaks to his durability, the great year he had and the fact that very few others stepped up on a consistent basis (at least not until henderson started playing after the all-star break and mcbob in his limited games.) kemba earned a hammer in 57 of our 82 games.

To Fatlever,

Hell of a job managing the Hammers (again) this season.

Thank you.

Love,

All of us.
