I 100% agree with you.
In his presser, he reckons that a lot of lack of execution and the inability to sustain high level of play is on him. Yet he keeps bringing the injuries as reasons for individual failures then causing collective failure. I do not understand why he - nor the reporters - never brings up the lack of offensive creativity in the plays.
Being among the worst in offense in the league is partly on the roster but mainly on coaching.
The thing that annihilates any hope going forward if Al and Cliff are still here is the inability for the latter - as MPM pointed out - to objectively view the former as a normal, flawed NBA player which has to be held accountable for every mistake, bad decision or lack of shape as every single other player would be (besides Kemba) as opposed to viewing him like a NBA star based on a 3 months production.
Looking into next year, it is absolutely insane to claim that Al has to be our best player.
And to start with, I do not know why he obsessively needs a "best player". Cliff must watch a lot of good ball coaching, like Atlanta, San Antonio, Chicago, Memphis, where the motto is defend/rebound/half court offense. All of those teams do not necessarily have a clear cut "best player" on offense as he claims to need, but rely on sharing the ball, having an inside/outside balance, making everybody contribute in ball movement and scoring, rather than putting your players in exaggerated roles based on their respective strengths and limitations.
Of course our shooters putting up low % is on them and the lack of talent, but there also has to be poor coaching job to get them open into the equation.
I am not sure it will happen but I would love for Atlanta to beat Cleveland in the playoffs just to show Cliff his example and view was wrong.
We must pair him with an offensive mind lead assistant if we hope for any success in the near future.
