it appears as though i will not be a season ticket holder for the return of the charlotte hornets. the franchise has decided to use the publicity surrounding the name change as justification to increase my ticket prices by 100%. i kinda figured an increase was coming, since i had such a great ticket deal, but i wasnt expected them to double my price.

i'll just by tix on stubhub when i feel like going.

That sucks. I don't think attendence will improve by that much anyway. Maybe for the first couple games or so.

Where did you get your avatar?

i have two tix in the upper corners and i have been playing about $450 total for both of them the last few years, about $5-6 per ticket per game. i have had those seats since 2006 when they ran the deal for $399. my invoice for next season is $950. i really only make it to about 10 games a year the the rest i either give away to friends and co-workers or i just eat. i probably give away tix to 10-20 games each year. i can justify that at $450, but not at $950.

i really dont remember where i saw my avatar. i'm pretty sure it was on twitter one day. probably something those bbtb guys tweeted out.

speaking of the bbtb... did you guys see the shirts they posted today? i found those to be a bit self indulgent. they say "I BROUGHT BACK THE BUZZ" on the front. i look forward to unfollowing them in the future. they get a follow now because they are good about digging up news on the logo, uniforms etc... but once all that stuff is announced, they will serve no purpose to my twitter feed.

I'm really bummed to hear about your tickets, Fats. I always feel like the really good franchises do everything right, from the way they pick their players to the way they treat their fans. CHA does a lot of head scratchers. Being tone deaf to long time ticket holders ranks as another head scratcher. What costs more, keeping old fans or getting new ones? Is that good business? I mean, I know why they're doing it, I just don't like it.

Here, here. Those guys blow up my Twitter feed and it usually annoys me, but they'll occasionally have some info that I find quite useful.

i havent received the official invoice yet and i havent talked to my ticket rep, so its possible there is a mix up. the past few years they have given me a deadline to renew to keep my cheap, grandfathered price or else renew at the going rate after the deadline.

I'd give your rep a call and see whats going on....

I will throw this out there though. I spend $100 on my seats per game and I can't make it to every game either, if you are interested in buying some of my games for face value then I will sell you some. I sit on Row A in section L01. Its the ledge seats. You sit at a granite table with an office type chair... Its really roomy and nice.

thanks for the offer jgib, but after paying $5 to see the cats for the past 7 years, i might have a hard time paying $100. a few times a year i'll get the company tix, which are halfcourt, lower level, really awesome seats, so that satisfies my fancy seat requirements. plus i can find cheap, nice seats on stubhub, especially since i prefer to not go to the marquee games like the heat and lakers.

You're not the only one who's complaining about ticket price increases. Someone else on my Twitter mentioned his ticket prices almost doubling.

Uniforms won’t be ready until late summer, the team said. Kids apparel will be available in a week or so.

Dang. That's ridiculous.

Let's hope Jordan will actually spend some money now.
Humble yourself.
