Official NBA Draft Thread - NO TWITTER SPOILERS ALLOWED!!!

Post#1 » by fatlever » Thu Jun 26, 2014 3:10 pm

Our day is here.

Coverage starts at 7PM on ESPN, draft starts at 7:30PM EST.

Hornets have the #9 and #24 picks

Lets do this!!!

Hi guy's. I have one ask tonight - but it's a very important one to me:

PLEASE LET THE COMMISH ANNOUNCE THE PICKS AND NO ONE ELSE!!!!!

Don't post tweets of who teams are taking before they are announced or blogs of who teams are taking before they are announced or websites of who teams are taking before they are announced etc.

This is especially important for our board members who are streaming or watching on delay and also following our board. Nothing worse than the pick being posted before its announced.

You don't get a prize for being the first to post who a team is taking. Again, please just leave it up to the Commish.

Thanks.

I said last night that I thought we would reach for Hood at 9.

No need to reach for Hood.

Draft Stauskas/Doug McD and wait to see where Hood falls. If he's available at Bulls pick, trade #9 pick and whatever else for their two teen picks.

If Hood is picked up before Bulls pick, just stick with our #9 pick and be happy.

Everyone thought Bonnell was full of crap when he said over a month ago that Hood would be in play with our 9th pick. He might end up looking like a genius.

I like the MERRY CHRISTMAS part. Unfortunately for us the guy we are considering drafting at 24 looks like Santa Claus :o

3. Payne
4. Lavine
5. Mcbuckets

In that order of who falls to us for number 9

I am not too concerned with who we select at 9 because out of the names mentioned by the Hornets for 9, they all see like they would be ok picks. My main concern is 24. I have no idea what we are considering for 24.

Merry Christmas is right. It's fun to see people's opinion's changing over time.

When we first won a lottery pick everyone was happy just to get it, the view was that any help we get will be a plus. Now, not so much.

Hood has continuously said that hes going to be a SG in the NBA. He definitely has the size thats for sure.

I would rather not draft hood. Believe it or not but I actually dont think MKG or TAYLOR are that bad and am willing to give them another year to prove themselves.

Sorry if its already been posted, but Ford is staying on the McDermott bandwagon with us on his latest mock draft put up bout an hour ago.

The Hornets continue to focus on shooters. They are shopping Gerald Henderson and according to sources they offered the 24th pick and Henderson to the Magic for Arron Afflalo. McDermott remains a favorite there, even after his workout was just so-so. Stauskas is another strong possibility, as are Gary Harris and James Young. Payton is the other sleeper here. The Hornets would like some depth at the point guard position behind Kemba Walker.

And at 24

McGary has been the mystery man of the draft. He's only worked out for one team (Bucks) and hasn't really done anything else. He's healthy now, so what gives? Two theories. The first is that his agent wants him to slide into the second round where he can control the money and number of years McGary signs for. He essentially would push for a one-year deal, let McGary show he's healthy and then try to cash in next year with a much larger contract. The other theory is that a team in the first round promised they'd take him. Charlotte could be that team. Toughness and size are much needed on their front line.

James Young is all the way down to 23 on Fords latest mock.

If Ford push him back one more pick (#24) he might be able to save the Hornets from what they may do at #9

There you go Mr. KnowItAll. Cho read the board and copied our offer. The Magic didn't want Henderson back. The deal was more about cap space, not talent.

That's a damn shame that we have 'starters' that we can't even give away attached to 1st rounders to other teams

I know I'm in the minority with this one, but if hood plays SG as a 6'8 lefty i'm all for it...

I wouldn't say we couldn't do that in all situations, just that in this situation, the Magic preferred cap space.

Their GM sees Lebron + Melo + Love + maybe Bosh on the move and knows teams like the Bulls (Gibson) + Clippers (Crawford/Dudley) + Rockets (Parsons) are looking to part with talent to make room for these superstars.

As I said in the other thread, no one wants Henderson at all. Still kind of surprised Magic turned that down, but as you said I guess it was about cap space.
