I expect him to eventually outperform the ninth pick regardless of how his offense comes along.

Well, thats a rather terrible start to the season.

Even if he isn't suppose to contribute much this season training camp for a rookie is extremely important.

Damn, training camp is very important for rookies, especially raw ones like Vonleh.

Vonleh is gonna DNP his way thru almost the whole season. That's a damn shame because I had my fingers crossed with optimism that he could surprise the coaches in training camp with his skill sets to win the starting job or immediate backup.

and so begins the underwhelming rookie year for vonleh. i had zero expectations for him this season, but you never want to see a rookie miss training camp.

Well if Cody goes back to being depressingly useless like he was at the start of his rookie year, Vonleh will have to get minutes. I don't expect much out of him in any case, and he probably won't crack the rotation on a consistent basis till Marvin Williams' contract expires or gets traded or Cody gets traded.

I'm pulling for Cody prolly more than any other player on our team right about now. Cody earning the starting PF spot over Messy Marv instead of losing it like he did to McBob last year is our only shot at getting a top 4 seed and home court advantage. We ain't gonna do diddly squat consistently good with Messy Marv starting alongside Big Al because our interior defense and rebounding will be putrid. Cody is our X-factor.

Terrible news but he'll be back for season proper.
Missing training camp is not the end of the world but obviously it's extremely important for the rooks.

I wouldn't say he lost it to McRoberts last year. Cody started the first preseason game, and never started again until McRoberts got hurt. I don't know if Zeller can beat Marvin out... Yet.

I think that beating Messy Marv out is asking a lot of Cody at this stage but I'd love to be wrong here.

Re: Welcome To Charlotte: Noah Vonleh
Yes bad news for Noah, but hopefully he will gain some understanding of the plays during camp via meetings and observations. We will need him sooner rather than later. I suspect Marvin to get hurt at some point. Cody could be improved but not enough to carry a heavy load. Noah is extremely young and not likely a factor till next year anyway, BUT the playing time he gets this season will help him develop his game.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I would be shocked if Cody plays less than 20 MPG. I don't know why you'd expect him to regress back to the period when he had no NBA experience and is on record as saying he was overwhelmed.
Vonleh only got 8 more MPG in college than Zeller got post-All Star break. Anyone that is expecting him to be a significant contributor this season is not taking a realistic approach to his current skill set and need for development.

Re: Welcome To Charlotte: Noah Vonleh
Not a worrying injury long term but the timing is terrible as stated for rookies missing training camp.
I've had two hernia operations and they should cause no real concerns after recovery.
Although I did get a nerve caught in the scar tissue for the last one near my groin which sucked as it felt like someone was lightly flicking my right nut every time I ran for about 2 months. Fun.
