He looks like a black caveman. He's like my plan d or e at 24.

Payne, Robinson, Napier, Christon, Wilcox, any of the teens guys that slips...

I like Hairston, but the entire 1st round outside of the lottery is pretty much equal to me.

I'm assuming we go for a wing with the 9th pick, so I'd like to go pure BPA with the 24th. I'd like to get Payne if he falls that far, he's athletic, super long arms, plays like he just got out of prison and can actually shoot threes. He would make Zeller completely expendable or provide depth if McBob signs elsewhere.

I'm more interested in the potential of Cleanthony Early (older but looks like he could contribute right away), GRIII and DeAndre Daniels than PJ. PJ's a finished project, he hasn't changed since I saw him play at Dudley. Also interested in Jordan Clarkson and Bogdan Bogdanovich as 2s that can run point.

Would you draft Gary Harris if he slips all the way to 24?

if by chance Wiggins, Embiid, Exum, Parker, Randle, Vonleh, McDermott, and Stuaskas were the top 8, I'd have a hell of a time deciding between Harris, Gordon, and Lavine at #9. So that's a hell yes if any of them falls to 24.

Id be content with Hairston or GR3 at 24.

P.J. Hairston Evaluation By Chad Ford

Positives
Big, strong, physical guard
Excellent shooter with deep range
Strong finisher at the rim
Excellent toughness

Negatives
Lacks a midrange game
Needs to improve his ball handling skills
Has had some weight issues in the past

Not really a huge fan of his game, other than his outside shooting. I just do not think he is worth the risk considering all his off the court issues. I have a hard time believing he has matured that much since college and adding money to the equation does not seem like it will help things.

I have a feeling we are going to grab a wing at 9 anyways, so at 24 I want to grab either a backup point guard (Napier, Payton,Ennis, Clarkson, or Christon) or a player who can force mismatch problems off the bench like a Kyle Anderson, Cleanthony Early, or Jeremi Grant. All those guys are kinda tweeners who can cause issues for the 3 or 4 guarding them and would give us some interesting lineup options during small ball or a long lineup.

I don't see Hairstons "character issues" nearly as big of a deal as some people make it to be. He drove too fast in a car rented by a shady promoter. Most people bankrolling the athletes have some shady ties. The much bigger criminal is the head of the plantation Mike Emmert, he has the real character issues for thinking it's okay to exploit these guys under the guise of being a "student athlete".

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Hairston is some super awesome role model guy, but I think he's an average young person who got caught doing young person stuff. Especially being banished to the D League I think he will come in very hungry and ready to compete wherever he lands.

I would be okay with Hairston with our 2nd 1st rounder. Would we lose UNC fans if we drafted him?

I don't see why people wouldn't want him at 24 if he's even available. If we can get rid of Hendo, I'd double up on two guards. I don't see any power forwards in this draft that could really improve us. PJ has a great stroke from outside and is very strong going to the rim. He's not great defensively, but I feel that he has the strength, athleticism, and footwork to be a pretty solid defender in Steve Clifford's system

At #24, I'd take Napier first option, Hairston as 2nd option.

Even as a Duke fan I can't hate and the only negative I can think of is that he may be long gone before #24.

Hairston would be a massive reach at #9. Nobody projects him above about #15 and most have him in the 20s.

No way we draft him at 9. I freaking hope not anyway

There's been a barrage of people trying to make a case for us to take him at #9 the past couple of days and I just don't get it.
