Heh, so half the RFAs have been resolved, none of which had any bearing on me. Then I have a vested interest in 4 of the last 5.

So I wait.

Thanks. I also went ahead and put a cap hold on your rookie pick on the google docs sheet, just so there isn't confusion with your salary and what not. The hold is just $1.

Chabber has asked me to relay that he has matched the LeBron offer and is locking him up for 2 years.

It was his exact request haha. He apparently had some conference/function/meeting/class all day that doesn't allow cell phones or laptops.

So his request was to screw me out of Dragic? How nice.

I, by the way, totally forgot that I am a part of this process as well. But I guess no harm is done since I didn't want to match for Meeks anyway.

I actually almost messaged you in case he tried another last-minute bid/match. There was no reason for him to wait though so I didn't.

For those that won players in the RFA, let me know how many years you want to give them. 2 or 3 years.

chabber is cut throat. that is hilarious.

i think we should allow people to put in contingency plans to avoid a situation like what just happened. for example, blackout could say 1) if lebron doesnt get matched, then i am not matching dragic 2) but if lebron is matched, then i am matching dragic.

that way you dont have to be glued to the screen prior to deadlines.

I just feel like if he told Ewing to match, he should've gone and done it instead of waiting until I couldn't recover Dragic. Not a fan of how this was handled at all.

But, moving on, two years for Granger and Meeks.

but, hey, at least we re-created some of that real life NBA magic where RFA is tricky business.

I love the story of a Knicks rep actually running through hallways in Vegas during Summer League and trying to evade the Rockets rep who wanted to give him the offer sheet for Jeremy Lin so Houston would be put in a tougher position as far as the waiting game goes.

I was at JSOC at Fort Bragg with guard escorts everywhere I went. Can't carry phones or devices on site. I did not like having the commish do my dirty work, however I'll own up to this and say that I asked for the bid to be put in at the last minute for this reason.

Blackout, your bid was $23. $3 over the high bid of $20. You have $11 in cap space after counting roster spots plus a RFA. Barring some major roster upheaval how do you think I'm going to take a $23 bid for Lebron from you? From my point of view, I thought it was most likely that you were using the rules and driving up Lebron's price to a safe zone that you thought I'd still match. Maybe I'm completely off base but that's how I saw it. At that point I was not going to match Lebron until the last minute and leave it to you to make a decision on Dragic. That is part of the risk in making a high bid with money that is not available to you currently. Your bid put you at risk to a cynical old man. If you were truly after Lebron and had some plan to make it all work, then I apologize.

All in all though I hope there are no hard feelings Blackout. I know you probably don't know me well because I don't post much anymore but I'm an old regular that's well mannered 99% of the time excluding the old Felton vs. Knight debates with that old curmudgeon W_Hamilton. ;) Fats can vouch for me on this.

Also I will add this as well. I screwed up and put Lebron in RFA because I initially thought no one could go over their cap to sign players in either free agency. If I'd have remembered the rules correctly before I restricted him, then I would have put Lebron in FA and let you guys have at it since you can't go over your cap in free agency. I had more cap than anyone else and I ended up putting him into a market where people could potentially bid him up. After going through RFA and then into FA it's likely there would have been fewer teams who could have bid near what I ended up signing him for.

<---Screwed the pooch this one did.

I get your situation but asking him to bid at 10:59 is just poor sportsmanship. At least give me two minutes so I could claim Dragic. Hell I was refreshing constantly and still wasn't able to act in time.

I had a plan in place to be under the cap by the draft, you may have noticed I had several questions relating to the various wrinkles here. In fact I contemplated upping my own bid just in case, but since you weren't online I felt safe (having someone else bid for you is a whole other issue).

Why would I make a decision on Dragic when I'm waiting on the LeBron decision (npi)? Like you said I needed cap space, and the Dragic bidding had no effect on you. I even tried to imply how I was anxiously awaiting people to decide on the FAs I bid on.

This is also why I didn't have a set deadline in my dynasty league, and in that one (like in reality) teams have a set amount of time from the final bid to match, instead of every FA signing at once.

Everyone else was a good sport, either making timely decisions to match or just moving on.
