2015 NBA Mock Drafts

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Wed May 20, 2015 1:12 am

Now the lottery order is confirmed, post mocks you find here and also ones that you create yourself.

I always really enjoying seeing our posters mocks, how people rationalize their thought process and respectfully discussing them.

Fat's Mock Draft 1.0

1. Wolves - Towns: Tempted to go for offense and take Okafor, but with Towns, Rubio and Wiggins they can build a really solid defense for the future. They don't have the shooters to pair with Okafor, nor the rangy defensive forward next to him.

2. Lakers - Okafor: He wants to go to LA, they oblige. Not sure if an Okafor, Randle frontcourt can defend anyone.

3. Sixers - Russell: Finally time to put a shooter next to all those rangy defenders.

4. Knicks - Mudiay: Its a start towards rebuilding

5. Magic - Winslow: Seems to fit what they are doing. They really need scoring and shooting, but how scary is that defense at 1 to 3 (and thru 4 if Gordon figures it out)

6. Kings - Cauley-Stein: They need frontcourt help yesterday. Fits great in between Gay and Cousins. Only a point guard away from being a real playoff team.

7. Nuggets - Hezonja: They need a wing shooter, just like the two teams picking behind them.

8. Pistons - Porzingis: Too good to pass up here, seems like good fit next to Drummond.

9. Hornets - Booker: Time to fill a need vs taking best player (Johnson?).

10. Heat - Johnson: Deng's replacement.

11. Pacers - Kaminsky: Won't help their team speed, but helps end their team shooting

12. Jazz - Turner: Another big for their young rotation, has different skills than other two.

13. Suns - Oubre: They need some wing depth to replace Green

14. Thunder - Dekker: Someone who can help them immediately, nice backup for Durant.

guess draft 1.0

1-Wolves- Okafor, the supposedly like him more than Towns so im going with it.
2-Lakers- Towns, good fit with Randle and stuff BPA
3-76ers- Russell, they need a PG and he is BPA
4-Knicks- Mudiay, good PG for the triangle and BPA
5-Magic- Porzingis, good fit with Vuc and they need shooting. loads of upside
6-Kings- WCS, somebody on that team needs to play defense.
7-Denver- Winslow, need some defense would fit well in uptempo style
8-Pistons- Johnson, they have a big hole at SF and he is a perfect fit
9-Charlotte- Hezonja, need some #spacing and loads of athletic upside which Cho likes
10-Heat- Kaminsky, Riley usually picks "veteran" players and he fits in well
11-Pacers- Turner, they dont want Hibbert anymore Turner is the replacement
12-Jazz- Oubre, they go BPA and a good fit with their core players
13- Suns- Booker, they could use a knockdown shooter so their PG's will pass
14- Thunder- Dekker, win now player good versatility.

If Knicks hold on to the pick, anybody think they roll the dice on Porzingis being a good fit in the Triangle, Lamar Odom / Pau style?

I know Bargnani worked out great, but maybe they think Porzingis is the real deal?

1) Wolves, Towns - his game is a natural fit with the young guys on their team, they don't have the shooters to take full advantage of Okafor.
2) Lakers, Okafor - with Clarkson on the roster and the inside track on Rondo they feel comfortable passing on the guards.
3) 76'ers, Russell - Hinkie just traded a PG with poor shooting skills and they need spacing to pair with Embiid and Noel.
4) Knicks, Mudiay - the Knicks take the best of what's left and personally I think they'll be thankful for it, Mudiay has what it takes to survive and thrive in NY.
5) Magic, Porzingis - they need spacing badly and Porzingis is the best option to pair between Gordon and Vucevic.
6) Kings, Winslow - Vlade and Karl celebrate getting the perfect fit to fall to them.
7) Nuggets, Hezonja - they need defense but with Chandler and Gallinari on the last years of their contract and next year's draft being big heavy they go for upside with Mario.
8) Pistons, Johnson - they've needed a small forward for years and with Jackson and Drummond already in contact with him, it's obvious they're interested.
9) Hornets, Booker - for their third time in the last four years we take the youngest player in the draft who just so happens to fill a huge need for us. His combine testing makes us confident he's big enough and athletic enough to be more than just a spot up shooter.
10) Heat, Oubre - they've needed youth and energy on the wing for the last three years, they get it in Oubre.
11) Pacers, Cauley-Stein - Bird wasn't blowing smoke up our a**, he loves the lineup versatility that Trill Will gives the team.
12) Jazz, Kaminsky - with both Favors and Gobert being more comfortable closer to the basket they take the sure thing in Frank.
13) Suns, Turner - they lack frontcourt talent and are lucky to have Myles fall to them, an obvious pick.
14) Thunder, Dekker - there are several guys with higher upside on the board, but unless you can play D and hit the 3 there won't be any PT on this team. Dekker can do both of those things.

If Russell is there and they are looking to move back what would you give up? Would Zeller and 9 be enough or what would we have to do.

a few mocks

BleacherReport: Stanley Johnson
Stanley Johnson is the type of physical specimen and competitor who can play multiple positions. The Charlotte Hornets should snag him here to streamline their operation on both ends of the court.

He quickly established himself as a multidimensional weapon at Arizona, and by midseason, he was the Wildcats' most dangerous all-around player. He can attack the rim, shoot, pass, rebound and defend stoutly.

Johnson measured at 6'6 ½" in shoes and 242 pounds at the combine, along with a 6'11 ½" wingspan. That sturdiness and expansiveness will help him guard point guards all the way up to power forwards in many cases. It also means he can slash through traffic and finish over defenders.

If the shooting development we saw during his freshman campaign continues, he's well worth the top-10 selection for Buzz City. Johnson's aggressiveness and basketball IQ will take his physical gifts to great heights.

SB Nation- Myles Turner
Al Jefferson is now 30 years old and will be a free agent next summer, so the Hornets need to start planning ahead. They have Noah Vonleh and Cody Zeller on the roster, but neither of them could become major two-way threats like Turner. Though Turner didn't play a big role as a freshman at Texas, his combination of shot blocking and shooting bodes well for his future.

Our top 9s are essentially identical. I switched Mudiay and WCS (I think WCS is a major reach but NY is interested in him) but the rest is identical. I think Winslow is definitely better than Hezonja, so I would imagine Denver takes him, and we get Mario at 9.

I will be ecstatic if we get Winslow, I'd take him over Hezonja. He will be a top 5 player from this draft in terms of NBA productivity IMO.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks Winslow is overrated. He's not a good shooter at all and doesn't have the same defensive range(?) as a guy like MKG. I look at him as a heavier, less explosive Oladipo.

My rough mock right now

Minnesota: Towns
Los Angeles: Okafor
Philadelphia: Russell
New York: Mudiay
Orlando: Winslow
Sacramento: Porzingas
Denver: Hezonja
Detroit: Johnson
Charlotte: Willie Trill Cauley-Stein

p.s. I'm not happy about that mock either

We need some bigs to get noticed and push shooters down. Hope that Frank K entices someone (Sacramento?) to grab him early. Maybe WCS gets in before us. Wouldn't it be wild if we had our choice of Johnson, Hezonja or Booker there?
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
