So the Hornets
1. Drafted
* Kemba - who is great but needs a 2nd ball handler / passer to be his best.
* MKG - who can defend but not score
* over 9000 PF/C types
2. Tried to get Hayward and failed.
3. Traded for Nic & had to pay $$ for his unique skillset.

Had they done a better job drafting or had gotten Hayward somehow ... even if it had cost them MKG ... the team wouldn't be in this situation with Nic. Kemba needs him. In theory his shooting helps MKG. On paper he's almost exactly what the team needed. In practice he's a complementary guy. He should be the 3rd best guy on offense.

At this point I guess we hope for a great trade, a home run in next year's draft, or that Frank makes major steps.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Batum was getting plenty of big offers and he's great for Kemba, which is why Kemba was there when they made their pitch.

He's a good creator but isn't going to be an alpha scorer, he's too much like Diaw that way.

We never had a chance with Hayward, jazz let everyone know they were not letting him go and matched the max offer.

Would it be spiteful on our part if we re-named this thread "Guarantee That"?

If we can get a scoring 2-guard, we should keep Nic. He's better off as a facilitator and 3rd or 4th option on offense.

Kemba and Cody benefit playing alongside Nic so I'm worried that it will affect their game if we ship out Nic.

Yeah, I think it's time we had some serious discussions about Batum and his future with this team. I don't want to overreact to a few bad shooting games and ignore the positives he brings, but at the same time, I think its completely fair for the fan base to expect more from him on a nightly basis.

My frustrations with Batum extend far past his poor shooting %s.

Sorry bro, but the NO game was the make or break game. For a team a few games back, you can't afford to lose to any team that has less than .500 record.

That's kinda scary if he has to undergo a CT scan. I hope he gets well soon.

Been there. It's nerve wracking as all hell. Hopefully they'll just prescribe him some Imitrex, a nausea pill, and tell him he's chill.

Good idea to sit him the rest of the year as a precautionary measure so we can draft his replacement

I'm just thankful we didn't give him a max deal. He will be movable after this season with the cap and salaries expanding perhaps

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/18915281/charlotte-hornets-nicolas-batum-get-brain-scan-migraines

The source said the migraines were described as "excruciating" and that it's "a scary period" for Batum, a nine-year veteran.

I feel very bad for even thinking it was a tank move now. As someone with health issues, I should have known better. Prayers that Nic gets the results and answers that he needs so that he can be totally cured.
