Signatures Are Disabled for Draft Day

Post#1 » by Winterpeg » Thu Jun 26, 2008 6:00 am

In preparation for the increased traffic on draft day we have temporarily disabled signatures. We will reactivate signatures on Friday afternoon when things start to slow down a little.

Are you going back to the original board design?

Let's hope that the boards doesn't crash again this year.

Thanks for the heads up......but I still don't think disabling sigs would be enough....you should start disabling forums..

Speaking of sigs, I understand why they can't be very tall because people have to scroll past them. But why can't they be as wide as the posts generally are? It's not like that space is being used for something else. I would rather see a height limit that's equal to two lines of text, but a width limit that's more like four inches.

You should kill avatars as well then - IMO - if you're going to optimize, then don't half ass it.

sure, and really p.o. members - if temporarily disabling signatures will do it, then why go overboard? One of the reasons RealGM upgraded is to handle Draft night

yeah speaking of signatures.... Doug Thonus made mine and apparently it does not meet requirements for this new board layout. Anyone know where I can find some to use?

I recommend to all fans to make alternative plans of chatting with fellow members of your teams' board since I'm fairly confident the traffic coming in here will crash this puppy once again as it has in years past.

You can open it on photoshop and shrink it.

It was changed back to 400x90 a while ago.

I'll second that. I'm a Bulls fan and our board is busy as hell every day, so adding the #1 pick discussion to that is going to cause chaos.

If everyone had photoshop, there would be no need to ask people to make icons for them. But I'm almost positive the siggy size was reverted.

ETA: looks like it was.

Will this help with the crashing? We know how last year went.

Can we just get rid of signatures permanently. Sometimes I don't have the time to take the few minutes to log in, and just want to read a few posts.

So I see the same inane signatures, that make it impossible to read a thread. All they do is distract the reader.

Get rid of them for good.
