Re: The OFFICIAL rookie impressions thread pt.III
Preface: I think Lillard will make a few all star games.
But...
He's not the best player in this draft and not a potential superstar. He will be a more perimeter oriented version of BRoy. He is not nearly as talented a shot creator as Roy was at the same age and also lacks the size and athleticism to ever be an upper echelon finisher. People will disagree with me saying this, but in this draft, he's a tier 2 prospect.
Tier 1:
Davis, Drummond
Tier 2:
Lillard, MKG, Beal

Add Waiters to that second tier and I agree.

Shem, no more posts for you bro. I find it hilarious that you are upset about posters praising other rookies in this thread. Unreal

And this has to do with other rookies as well. Goes to show what happens when you play on the west coast in a small market.
Cavs fans posting about Cavs rookies. Is it that hard to fathom? Calm down.

Just because I point something out, doesn't mean I'm upset. I'm just making an observation that obviously stirred up some people around here.
Wait... I just posted again!

Dude, Cleveland isnt a big market either. Let them discuss their rookies if they want. Lillard already has enough attention so far.

Re: The OFFICIAL rookie impressions thread pt.III
Davis only added 6 points and 3 rebounds in 'garbage' time. It's not like he doubled his stats. I don't see the problem with him accumulating those stats, his game was impressive enough tonight without them. I had no problem with him playing as a Blazers fan, though as a Hornicans fan I might have been worried about playing my franchise player in a game with a thirty plus differential (I see Monty picked that one up from Nate).
I think most people don't talk about Lillard anymore because they all expect him to have great games. Like whatcha said above, I'm more surprised when he has a bad game than a good/great game. It really has nothing to do with market size. I mean, Cleveland, Charlotte, Detroit, and New Orleans are all small markets in basketball.. we're all on the same 'small market can't ever get any exposure' team here. I think this rookie class would be getting more media attention, particularly Lillard, this year if the Lakers weren't imploding most of the time and LeBron wasn't having a genuinely historic season.
Davis played really great defense against LaMarcus tonight, and really bothered the Blazers when they drove (we have one and a half of those kind of players). The Blazers missed a lot of outside shots they normally make (LMA and Batum both have sore shooting wrists), but he really locked down the middle there for stretches. I don't really think anyone is out of bounds for talking about his performance, or the Cleveland guys getting excited by a good performance from Waiters.
Lillard is just amazingly consistent at putting up bigger scoring numbers and good, but not great, assist numbers. The other guys aren't (and that isn't a knock), so of course people are going to get used to Lillard's performances and they won't be "big deals" to talk about, but the performances of others will. That's natural.

Because those players have shown they can create their own shot, notably on isolations. As has Waiters who should also be on that list. Barnes could be an all star but I don't think he's a guy you'd want to be more than your 3rd option if you're gunning for a title.

This guy is fun to watch.
Also LMAO at the last and double LMAO to have the balls to even attempt that in your first game with meaningful minutes in the NBA.

I understand that, but the fact remains that the further west you are, the worse it is for small market teams. That's why I put in the word west coast when I originally stated about the small market thing. All I did was point out how it is.

Am I allowed to post in this thread or am I unable to because this is in fact the Damian Lillard thread and Damian Lillard doesn't play on my team?
I am a Bobcats fan and we only have two rookies so am I eligible?

You are allowed to post their names, and stats. But any comments about their play most be proportional to your praise of Lillard. Shem has all the math worked out, so just ask him.

I thought this was a rookie discussion thread? Not a Damian lillard thread who is having a fantastic rookie year btw but when other rookies preform well too I'd like too hear about their impact and progression as well.

Captain Drummond is still injured. In other news...Damian Lillard runs further and further away with the ROY every damn day.
