It’s funny how he had by far his best game of the series while playing on a calf strain. I don’t know why he struggled in the first four games while he was supposedly healthy.

Everything he said is factual. Lakers were the better team for the majority of the series. The coaching was the difference, Nuggets had better late game execution when it mattered and Ham was incapable of making adjustments on the fly. Wolves are gonna give the Nuggets all sorts of fits, Murray is about to be another victim on McDaniels island but good thing he already has a built in excuse.

Ban bet? If the Wolves beat the Nuggets I don't post til draft day, if Nuggets beat Wolves you don't post til draft day?

If the Lakers were the better team for the majority of the series, just imagine what the Wolves will do!

I enjoy talking hoops with you guys, why would I want to potentially ban myself during the best time of the year? I'm down to do a monetary bet.

He's one of those weird players that seems to play his best under pressure.

Minnesota could have beaten the Lakers, without question. The other teams I'm less sure about.

The Lakers played really well and deserve some credit though. They're better than a 7 seed play-in team.

Yeah I think the Wolves would have been dangerous as well. Moot point now. Season over.

Not that everyone can do this because AD was incredible, but Lakers laid down the blue print how to defend them. No 3s, no easy drives to the basket. Making Jokic take tough contested shots is a good defensive possession.

Thanks for the tips,

Probably wouldn’t be a wise strategy. The Nuggets are shooting the 4th most 3’s per game this playoffs, so I don’t know where the “no 3’s” idea comes from. They also shot 30% on “wide open” 3’s. Hoping the Nuggets repeat that type of of shooting is not a good bet. Also, points from drives rank for Nuggets, regular season: 30th. Playoffs: 9th. The Nuggets actually bumped up their drive scoring and efficiency.

Also re: Jokic “tough” shots. Jokic regular season: 26.4ppg on 65% TS. Playoffs: 28.2ppg on 67% TS.

If you’re betting on the Nuggets shooting 31% from 3 for the entire playoffs you’re probably going to pay at some point. The Lakers did a good job not fouling but they also got lucky the Nuggets missed wide open shots (some by design, some just through bad shooting).

I took a screenshot of the survey results the night before Game 1 of this series:

Based on the percentages of each result in that survey, the RealGM GB predicted that there would be a 67.3% chance that the Nuggets would win the series. Also, the most popular choice was Nuggets in 5.

When is AD ever healthy? Get out of here with that weak excuse. #Mutumboswat

AD has been amongst the healthiest superstars the last few years. You shouldn’t follow silly narratives and look at the factual data.

In the playoffs I'd take the above comfortably

Jokic
Giannis
Luka
Steph
Ant
Brunson

I think AD is in the
Tatum
SGA (haven't seen enough)
Bam
Butler
LeBron range

I didn't rank Kawhi and Embiid due to oft-injured status in the playoffs. So I guess both are back half of top 10, I'd rank LeBron behind AD because LeBron has really dropped off defensively and its infected the team. He was a different animal on defense in 2020 and it set the tone. You'd expect that with age but its definitely pulled down the Lakers upside.

Lol, if Lebron and AD are below Steph and Brunson on this year's playoffs which Steph didn't even make.

huh? Steph doesn't have anyone close to AD/LeBron as second banana and Brunson is looking good to advance

Yeah, I did it a slightly different way where I factored in the number of games each group thought each team would win and the percentage of each of those answers, and then did the calculations from there. That said, I went back and checked my numbers and they were off. It was 68.6% not 67.3%.

As an extreme example, if 51% of respondents said they thought the Nuggets would win 4-3, and 49% said they thought the Lakers would win 4-0, then on average the board would have been saying that they thought the Lakers would win more games than the Nuggets. I'm not sure that's even the right or wrong way to go about it - just different. More like gambling odds, maybe.

Probably best to just add up the percentages like you did lol

That play by LeBron in the closing seconds was strange. Looked like when he got the ball and turned he could have gone toward mid-court rather than plowing ahead and then throwing an ineffective pass.

My favorite first round series! Definitely underestimated the Lakers going into it I was not expecting them to win a game. Both teams played great
