Is Dwight Howard a dirty player?

Post#1 » by darth_federer » Sat May 29, 2010 1:47 am

There are 5 videos here. He also had the swing last year at Samuel Dalembert. So, is Dwight Howard a dirty player and does he get away with it because hes such a genial guy?

Would try to add something witty involving Newton; but those clips are a bit skewed, no?
Watch a whole play; he gets banged the whole time, then when he bangs back usually a guy hits the deck.

No he's just a huge human being so when people bump into him they get hurt. Same thing happened throughout Shaq's career.

LOL this guy is the biggest piece of crap the league has ever seen...NOW when his team is SELF-SATISFIED from winning two games against the Celtics and avoiding becoming one of the biggest embarrassments in playoff history, Dwight decides to tone it down and play nice...That open missed layup by BBD was no coincidence...What a joke...

I'm happy that he hasn't let the soft league ruin his style. Mutombo would elbow the crap out of people too. I don't know how many noses he ended up breaking. Good for Howard. We need to see more of this.

No he isn't. Lets be real. Dwight has taken out Jameer Nelson twice and took Courtney Lee out of last year playoffs on a similar play to Big Baby. Dwight is just a big guy that jumps really high and when he comes down you better not be in the way. That elbow to KG is nothing. Really Boston just mad that someone isn't just scared of them.

QFT. Bill Simmons sarcastically tried to say why didn't previous big centers regularly knock dudes out, its because back in the day, other players knew not to go nose first when a big has the ball in the locked position. You were taught to swing your elbows when you get a rebound for just that reason. Now, "pesky" defenders are always leading with the jaw and getting too close. The only difference is that a lot of players don't use the old-school methods anymore(lack of fundamentals across the board, imo). So they don't pay the price.

From my perspective Howard is a dirty player. He took out D. Rose twice in the last 2 times the Bulls played against the Magic.

Then after the 2nd game he blamed D. Rose instead of apologizing.

He is a dirty player who wants to pretend like he is a good guy.

Howard isn't a dirty player. NBA fans are just used to pussy rules thanks to Stern.

I agree, he just makes it really really subtle...and I must say he does a good job at it.

Except that Rose does the same thing every game and only gets injured by one player?

He did the same exact thing to Rondo tonight.

Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence Three times .........How does that saying go?
