Well, Kobe badmouthed the Lakers organization, coaches, and owners, opted out and almost signed with the clips and bulls, AND demanded a trade. But they took him back without hesitation.

It's all about who's willing to pay Shaq what he wants.
I don't think the Lakers would take him back but I think Cuban would sign him quick.

So my answer is the Mavs where he will be just another old guy on an old team.

Mavs seem like the obvious choice.

Sadly I doubt he retires, he owes too much money to his creditors and has a very expensive lifestyle and habits to fund. When the money-well dries out. I'm wondering whether Shaq will join the numerous long lines of bankrupt former athletes scrapping just to make a living, I can defnitely envision it especially the way this guy just burns holes into his pockets like it's nothing.

OKC/Utah/Washington

Then, he can add to his distinguish and compeltely urivaled collection among centers in NBA history:

Penny Hardaway-->Kobe Bryant-->Dwayne Wade-->Steve Nash-->LeBron James-->Kevin Durant/Derron Williams/John Wall

Dallas should happen. I don't know about the Spurs.

Lakers would never happen, Cavs would probably be 3rd most likely (but he would have to give them a discount, not to mention he would have to wait on Lebron), and Heat/Sun/Magic....I won't even dignify that with a response.

Poll should've been; Mavs, Spurs, Cavs, Thunder, Hawks, in game Color Commentator.

In all honesty it's a tough call. Shaq is 38 years old now, and listed at a weight of 325 pounds. For most teams, a player of this age/weight would serve no purpose on their team. He is also one of the greatest players to play the game and should be respected as such. But the guy is far beyond his prime and, if he didn't have so much pride, should probably retire. He put up a serviceable 12 points and 7 rebounds with the Cavs this year and would probably want to go to a contender for one last chance at a title. But for every contender, there is the question of whether Shaq would actually make their team's better. For most of them, Shaq would either add no value or even regress the team depending on whether you think the money spent/ time he would take away from other's would be a detriment. In all honesty, the best thing he could do is go back to Newark New Jersey (birthplace) for another year or two and play as a backup center for the New Jersey Nets. His knowledge of the game that he could impart into a rising star in Brook Lopez (22 years old) would be invaluable. But Shaq probably has too much pride to go to a team that won't be a contender for probably another year or so, and as a backup no less, in New Jersey. I would then guess he would probably end up with the Mavericks or might even stay put. There's no chance he would go back to the Lakers.

No mention of him playing in his hometown with the Nets? Shaq evens said he wouldn't mind playing there if they were interested in him.

I hope to God the Nets aren't interested.

EDIT: Whoops looks like Tdevils beat me to it.

This. Shaq needs to play with another generational star to continue the trend. OKC, Mavs, Spurs would all be awesome

Seriously...Those Suns would have made the playoffs that year if Amare didn't go down. Stop putting it all on Shaq.

Yup, even that stretch that Nash and Amar'e was out Shaq had the Suns playing well with the 2nd option at that point being Jason Richardson. Another thing was Amar'es confidence when Shaq was on the court with him. It seemed like Amar'e stepped up his game while Shaq was on the court with him.
