all you debbie downers and haters......SHUT THE **** UP

asian americans have had no representatives in the history of the league, and you can't let them enjoy the moment for a little bit. Like there's something better to talk about right now????

Here's a hint: The Bay Area has the largest concentration of Asian Americans.

If Hawaii had a basketball team, Lin would be in Heaven.

Hawaii is not about Pacific Islanders + Asians against not them. I am a Long Beach veteran as Pacific Islander or Asian as they come and Oahu locals treated me like ****. It's all about locals vs outsiders and I have that experience to remind me.

You're right, although I'm not sure what "Hawaii is not about Pacific Islands + Asians against not them" means. People born and raised in Hawai'i tend to dislike "outsiders" as you put it when they bring a mainland mentality to Hawai'i. That being said, Asians here would love Lin.

I am born and raised from O'ahu and can tell you people in Hawaii don't like Californians.

what about midwesterners? i've been to hawaii a couple times and fell in love with the place. mainlanders say it gets boring fast because you cant just drive to another state but honestly... if you lived in hawaii why would you want to go anywhere else?

Are you staying at hotels and following tourist routes and points of interests? If so you never will run into a local other than the 1 cleaning up after you and serving you your meals. They fake smile for that. I unfortunately have local family and live amongst the grunt of people. I'm certainly not a rich.

They prob went with a Multi year deal b/c they don't want to lose him like Utah lost Mathews for nothing... not to mention if he does well then he'll be on a cheap deal for a while...

Last time I checked East Palo Alto is in California. So what you said about Lin playing for a Hawaii NBA team kinds of contradicts itself when concerning fan reaction. I think most Asians in Hawaii do not concern themselves as being Chinese, Filipino, Samoan etc... So I don't think most would care about Lin the way mainland Asians would for the most part.

It's not just people in Hawaii.

Californians are as dispersed as they come. As a state, each and every person can be considered less relevant to one another than in any state. To say we are united is bogus...
