There are some things that make the adquisition very atractive, but others not so much.
Splitter is a great 5, never a 4. He has played the 5 all his career.
He is strong, can defend, rebounds well and has great feet movement around the basket. He is a good passer and intelligent player.
On the other hand, cannot shoot from further than 3 feet (so, he cannot shoot at all) and he is not a good FT shooter.
So, I believe he can only play behind Duncan, as Duncan is now slower and cannot play the 4 as he used to. He has to play alongside Bonner, McDyess or any other forward.
I believe he will be Blair's menace for minutes.
He should learn from Duncan, take some of his time and be his inheritor in a couple of years. I believe he should have tried to come earlier to learn from him a little bit more, when Duncan was more in his prime.

Tiago Splitter has been hyped up for so many years now. The reason not many people bother talking about him now that he's finally coming to NBA is because people have already done it to death and it's old news now. Everyone just wants to see how he'll doing in this league after all of this anticipation.

Splitter will help a lot.
He will make Tim Duncan play better because, above all the help he brings with defense and rebounds, he is a great passer and the combination between them will be great. He has a great basketball IQ and is basically a TEAM player.
Also he has great hands to catch some Manu or Tony's passes in the paint to finish some plays.

The thing is that Spurs will need to have some pacience. He will make lot's of stupid foul at the beggining and maybe he gets lost in the system, but he will adjust very quickly cause he's a smart player..

Spurs are a really lucky team, that's why they won rings with draft picks and vets.. More than 10 years of good luck..

Duncan can play the highpost game still with Thiago on the inside

He shot 79.1% from the free throw line last year for ACB. How is that not good for a center? That is top 5 in the NBA.

I'm VERY excited about his arrival and can't wait to see him in action.

Not as much of an impact as Scola makes on the Rockets.

lolerskaters @ Spurs organization. We gave them NOTHING for the Ice Cream man. I strike again, this time my own division.

No, but seriously, we did rape them(like most teams in the NBA). And really, Tiago is a great cat, but does it really matter? Rockets will be better than them, and as usual the Mavericks are a top notch regular season team(and that's it).

Yeah I am... I am so mad at the Spurs Organization for the years of failures unlike the Rockets who have time and again gotten titles in the past decade... oh wait... snap...

Seriously.. just be a better poster, the whole shick thing you are doing isn't the best way to start off as a poster around the boards, and in fact it might give you a timeout.

2nd round exit, actually.

But hey man, I said give us some time. If you're so knowledgable of my greatness and my accolades, how about you spit out the roster I was given the day I took this job and compare it to now? Include picks and TE's.

Once you're done, you'll realize how much you envy me.

Ok I'll get us back on track.

Tiago hasn't gotten much media coverage this year but no big deal. He will fly under the radar like most Spurs do.

Solid pick up that helps balance the Spurs with young legs.

I sure hope Pop gives him some serious mins right out the gate.

I would gladly take Tiago Splitter over whoever DIRK's backup PF will be this season for Dallas.

Not to go all arrogant dick on you, but I'm a Laker fan. I don't envy anybody.

And yes, I expect Splitter to make a big impact with the Spurs. He gives them exactly what they need. That said, health is and always will be San Antonio's top concern. Considering it's been an issue three years running, and two of their three most important players are in their 30s, it's tough to see this move putting them back on top.

What do you mean by that? We're all just fans you know.

It's not like God gave you the ability to become a Lakers fan while others didn't have that option.
