all time greats aren't forgotten

Ever heard of Dave Bing? Most people nowadays have no clue who he is, and yet he was an all time great. They are forgotten.

And he's doing his best to revive the ruins of Detroit as mayor (actually doing a decent job). Anyone willing to try and play Detroit politics without being obviously corrupt (like former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick) is completely admired by me.

I remember reading that Bing was allmost blind from one eye when he played. Amazing

Sam Jones. 10 rings and super clutch but people think he played Pete Ross in Smallville.

Connie Hawkins was the first that came to my mind, though his legacy was hurt for several reasons.

Internationally, Oscar Schmidt

^^ Oscar "Holy Hand" Schmidt is a good choice. But I'll say it like this: it is no surprise that there is no "D" in his name :)

:o that's sick, especially for a point guard. Even though it was just one year.

Also does anyone remember Walter Davis? He wasn't necessarily an all time great, but I remember during the 1988 NBA stars vs. NBA olympic team game the announcer said something like "Jordan could be the next Walter Davis" or something.

Walt Bellamy, Artis Gilmore, Connie Hawkins are all good choice. A personal favourite of mine is Andrew Toney. Not an all-time great per se but still a very fine player who shined in the playoffs.

Also a player you've probably never heard of is Kresimir Cosic. A 2-time All-American at BYU in 72 and 73 (first foreign player to earn the honor) he was seen as the first European player who could compete with American stars but declined offers from the NBA and ABA to play in his native Yougoslavia (now Croatia).
