Build a starting 5 using the min. salary (Just for fun)
As topic, I am interested to think how my fellow NBA fans would build your best starting 5 in your mind. And I would love to start mine first, please state the salaries/reason for choosing as well.
As the min. salaries is state at around 43.5m, I think anything less than 44m and here come my lineup
PG: Rajon Rondo 9m
SG: Anthony Morrow 4m
SF: Danny Granger 11m
PF: Glen Davis 3m
C: Dwight Howard 16.6m
The total salary is (9+4+11+16.6+3)=43.6m
The main reason I love this team is that I think defense win Championship. Therefore, I think Howard in C is a no brainer. Rajon/Danny are both very good/broadline all star players where Rajon can asset and steal while Danny can score. They are both good defender on their position. Finally I select Morrow who is one of the best 3PT shooter and would have a lot of space for his shooting to shine while Davis is used to play with Rajon and would score a lot of easy baskets with Howard drawing a lot of attention. Their contracts are both very cheap.
Overall, I think this may not be the best lineup but it should be the most defensive lineup and should win the championship within the money limit.
Finally, just a short reminder, players on rookie contract like Durant/Rose are NOT allowed for obvious reasons. OK, let's start the game.

Re: Build a starting 5 using the min. salary (Just for fun)
PG: Wade 14M
SG: Tony Allen 3M
SF: LeBron 14.5M
PF: Haslem 3.5M
C: Haywood 6.9M
Total: 41.9M
Sorry Chris Bosh it was too hard to put together a line-up with you included.
I realize it is lacking shooters, but it would be an excellent defensive line-up IMO and with Wade/LeBron I don't thing scoring would be a huge concern. I realize teams could play zone against this line-up, but it's easier said than done. Also for 2M extra I could put in Mike Miller instead of Tony Allen and that would help against the zone while still keeping us under the min salary.
Wade doesn't like to play PG, but I just listed him there because Tony Allen is not a PG by any means. I'd have Tony Allen defend PG's though most of the time, and also put him on elite SG's like Kobe/Roy/etc, in order to save Wade's energy.
Haslem is capable of hitting open shots, and is a good defender despite being undersized, plus he has a legit 7 footer in Haywood to back him up.
OR instead of Haywood I could put in Camby (8.4M) for a total of 43.4M
OR I could go with the Wade/T. Allen/LBJ (31.5M combined) and take Bogut (11M) which puts me at 42.5M ...Then use the vet min on a PF.
Another option...
PG: Wade 14M
SG: Tony Allen 3M
SF: LeBron 14.5M
PF: Odom OR David West 8.2M
C: Chuck Hayes (2.3M)? Chris Anderson (3.9M)?
I just want to add that this is based on the salaries for the 2010-2011 season. I know lots of these guys are going to be making more $/per year on their contracts over time.
Props to the OP, interesting thread.
Oh and Inbefore'coolstorybro'jokes due to this post being long.

I thought he meant vet-min when I clicked on the thread as well.
youngcrev that's a good line-up. I can't believe I forgot about Perkins. I'd put him at C instead of Haywood or Camby which would leave me with 7.9M (I believe) for a PF.

Re: Build a starting 5 using the min. salary (Just for fun)
Assuming we can't use rookie salaries...
Rajon Rondo (9.1M)
Reggie Williams (800k)
LeBron (14.5M)
Blatche (3.3M)
Dwight Howard (15.8M)
------
$43.5M
That team has got an APG leader with championship experience...a young player that can shoot the rock (50%fg/36%3pt/84% ft) and has excellent size (6'6, 210lbs) in Reggie Williams...a 30ppg MVP in LeBron...a 7ft PF that can block shots, rebound, and pass in Blatche (even if he is a little dumb)...and the DPOY who can destroy inside with Howard.
Give me $26M to fill in the gaps with role players and I'd have a 75 win team

I'll take you one further and give you a ten man rotation:
Aaron Brooks (2.02)/Darren Collison (1.36)
Tyreke Evans (3.88)/Marcus Thornton (.76)
Danilo Gallinari (3.3)/Grant Hill (3.32)
Kevin Love (3.64)/Jeff Green (4.46)
Joakim Noah (3.13)/Brook Lopez (2.4)
AND IT COMES IN AT 28.27

Good look beating that team.
That team would be easy to beat on a basketball court. Parker and Bargs would be in the corner massaging each other.

But they would score approximately 8 trillion points per game.

Was it not you in the other thread arguing about how easy it is to use players on rookie contracts when in fact the restrictions had nothing to do with salaries, yet now when it actually comes in to play your team is one short from full of rookie contracts?
