'95 Rockets/Spurs?
'01 Lakers/Kings?
'05 Spurs/Mavs?

Oh the teams that haven't won anything yet?
I'd say yes then.

Wouldn't it make more sense to look at it by division, as only three states (will be four when the Nets move) have more than one team?

the question was has one state has had two teams as GOOD, not necessarily whos won anything yet

you cant deny that Orlando and MIami are two of the top 5 teams in the NBA right now, arguably top 4

Until we actually see them play at least one game, I'm pretty sure we can?

That being said, my pick would probably be the Spurs/Rockets.

However, the person who suggested looking at divisions instead of stats have a valid point, it's sort of a small data sample as there aren't that many states with 2 teams to begin with, so you've sort of eliminated 75% of the NBA from the discussion.

Which, as a Miami fan, I'm sure you don't really care about.

Lakers/Kings was the 1st that came to mind. Won a combined 119 games in 01/02, #1 and tied for #2 best record in the league. Met in the WCF, both teams easily took care of everyone else up until that series (Sac 7-2, Lakers 7-1). Series went 7 and then Lakers swept the Nets. They essentially went 18-3 when not playing each other in the playoffs.

2002 Lakers/Kings and 1995 Rockets/Spurs come to mind like most have already mentioned but the Heat & Magic still have a lot to prove to be BETTER than those two ''state duos''.

The title of thread would be better if it was ''has one state ever had a better duo than the Heat/Magic of 2010'11.

'07 Spurs/Mavs, won a combined 125 games. Dallas was utterly dominant that season. Miami/Orlando has a lot to live up to before they can be compared to the '07 Mavs.

Lakers/Kings in 2002.

They were the number 1 and number 2 teams in the NBA.

Magic and Heat are arguably in the top 5, with the Lakers on top.

Yeah, MIA/ORL has the LA/SAC tandem and all of those Texas twosomes to compete with. Who knows if they'll actually be much/any better.

If this is a past champions party, I can post some Pistons pics.

After all, 2004 is back when we won it with Ben, Prince and Rip. Just saying.
