Mavs fan's opinion: The Heat need a PG

Post#1 » by Soupman » Sun Nov 28, 2010 9:39 pm

The Heat are lacking in the two most important positions in basketball. PG and center. They need a PG to setup the offense and CREATE plays for the playmakers(bosh/james/wade). They need a legit center to hold other teams to 1 shot per possession, defense, shotblocking, tip in's and physicality.you cannot play great defense without size and altheticism. Wade/James/bosh shouldn't be trying to create plays or thier own shots. A decent PG with decent defense would go along way for this team.

Maybe they can copy the celtics and pick up 4-5 bigs to sure up thier paint.

How about kirk kinrich, baron davis,JJ Barea, or a three way deal for Nash. What about the knicks felton?

Finding a PG won't help them. Wade and LeBron just need the ball too much to be effective and that'll negate the purpose of a PG. This team is simply flawed since creation. The two best players have overlapping games, and the middle is average at best.

I don't think that's their issue. LeBron and Wade need the ball in their hands. They do best when they're the creators. They're already splitting that time in half. Adding a ball dominant point guard to the mix won't help things.

The Heat's major problems are stemming from the big three. They walked into this situation completely arrogant and didn't come in as committed to winning as you need to be. Bosh's comments about wanting to be on TV and then wanting to chill just make me think that these guys thought winning would be automatic.

There is one ball enough shots for all three of them. They just have to be more effecient. Thats not going to happen if they don't have a decent PG.

Of course they could use an upgrade over Arroyo, but that's not their issue. They've proven they could be awesome players with guys like Gibson and Chalmers.

I disagree. A PG would help them score more effeciently. You need to score effectiently if you have 3 players that need the ball to be effective.

The Heat have to toughen their front line. Lebron needs to follow in Jordan and Kobe's foot steps and develop a post game (instead he'll just keep working on his dance moves). All they need a PG for is to occasionally bring the ball up the court and knock down open jumpers.

That's my point. Your premise is that a decent point guard will get Wade and LeBron going, right? Well they've spent their careers playing with below average point guards and have done just fine. They have roster issues, but their problems have 95% to do with the big three.

Theres like 8 heat threads on the first page GB, why not just make a forum called "Heat suck", where everyone can talk about how much the heat suck, and how LeBron is a douche and stuff. Tim suggested it sarcastically but it'd probably be a good idea

There are countless threads this could go in. This is not the Heat board.
