The original people who settled in Los Angeles and built the town were

1 Peninsular (Spaniard born in Spain)
1 Criollo (Spaniard born in New Spain)
1 Mestizo (mixed Spanish and Indian)
2 Negros (blacks of full African ancestry)
8 Mulattos (mixed Spanish and black)
9 Indios (American Indians)

Nothing says celebrating hispancis more like using the Spainsh word for "the" in front of the team name.

I can't wait for German heritage month so we can have Der Heat. Or would it be Das Heat? Wait, I got it, Die Heat! So you can totally sell the jerseys to opposing fans too while celebrating the great German heritage by using their word for "the" on the jersey!

Los Toros would still be comprehensible to the teenage kids (the jersey demographic) who don't speak Spanish, so that would make sense. Although jersey designs are still recognizable regardless of the words anyway. You could put Chinese characters on a Lakers, Celtics, Bulls,Spurs, Heat, Knicks, etc jersey and the average NBA fan would still recognize it anyway, so it's not a huge gamble.

Wait, either I am reading this wrong or you're saying Los Angeles was founded by Mexican Latinos...but wasn't it founded by Spaniards? You don't consider Pau Gasol a latino, right?

I'm obviously not an expert on the subject so please try not to take offense if I'm off base.
