Why is Rondo so passive?

Not trying to start a flame war. Does he just like helping his teammates that much? Stat padding? Or simply afraid of making a layup?

He tries to pad his assist stats 2-3 times every game. Sometimes this happens as a result.

He is extremely passive but no, its not because he is scared to take this layup. He was definitely thinking someone was going to be there with him.

Yeah thats true. Tony Allen is someone I wouldn't want chasing me down the fast break, but I've seen him pass up open layups occasionally as well. This was just from today so I decided to bring it up.

If I was Doc I'd rip him a new one for that.

He was probably anticipating the trailing teammate so he could get an assist. I've seen him do it multiple times so he was probably doing the same thing.

He passed open a wide open layup which essentially cost C's the game..

Don't turn this into another Rose/Rondo argument,

Gremz.

Come on. This is not going to be a Rose vs Rondo thread. Fellow Bulls fan, come on now.

Seeing Bosh by the rim would make anyone pissed and want to dunk the hell out of him.

Rose has absolutely nothing to do with this thread.. why try to derail it?

Rondo doesn't shoot layups because
1) he'd rather get assists
2) he's scared he might have to shoot free throws

Combination of all 3.

PS: Didn't even know he could dunk.

As a Celtic fan, I can't explain what's going on with him lately. He looks very passive since the KP trade. I'm still bewildered as to why he didn't go for the layup there.
