Cavs to correct draft mistakes, will draft best human player

Post#1 » by EwwItsRasho » Tue Apr 19, 2011 7:08 pm

As per wiretap:

Grant said he and his staff will meet with coach Byron Scott and his staff to determine a course of action moving forward. Asked whether he anticipated drafting to fill a need or to acquire the best player available, Grant did not hesitate.

"My philosophy, best available," he said, "particularly when you're drafting high, you want to look for the best talent and human beings. The human being part is very important."

I'd rather have a douchebag on my team and win, than have a nice guy and lose.

I guess they tried to take a shot at Lebron, but failed.

As for Cleveland, since they need improvement at every position, it's kinda hard to say they won't draft for need.
I move around so much, I've just decided to start rooting for everybody.
Except the Heat.

Like when Rose wins the finals this year against Kobe.

A "nice" guy is less likely to bolt

What a dumb wiretap. You can't draft for need when you have holes at all 5 positions. That makes the field of potential draftees *everyone*, hence you're taking the BPA. That's not news. News would be if Cleveland announced "We're going to restrict ourselves to drafting SGs and Cs even though we have holes everywhere."

They're trying to appeal to the fan base that didn't like LeBron's demeanor.

So they're not going to look at drafting BasketBot 9000?

Their loss.

Any guy will bolt if you fail to provide them with a legit 2nd option in 7 long years and have no cap room to get one for the next few years. Even most nice guys won't wait 9-10 years to get a legit 2nd option.

It doesn't matter- a nice superstar is not less likely to bolt in the scenario Lebron was in- 7 seasons and no legit 2nd option with their salary cap tied until after NEXT season, no good draft picks, and no good trade pieces for a potential 2nd option.

No one is gonna wait 9 seasons to get some good teammates.
