5 rings trumps a few blowout losses, imo.

2 rings.

The first 3 were on Shaq's back.

Actually, many fans make a case that the last 2 were on Pau's back, too. Kobe shooting 6-24 and still winning?

Look at this series. Pau has an "off" series and the Lakers get swept, while Kobe continues to shoot
horribly
.

Kobe shot 47% in this series.

Funny how a Heat fan - with LeBron/Wade/Bosh - is upset because the Lakers got Pau Gasol, who hadn't won a playoff game until Kobe Bryant turned him into a champion.

Five rings, friend. Suck on it.

I'm not upset at all. I was just making a statement.

Acquiring Pau Gasol without having to give up Lamar Odom or any relevant piece, guaranteed your team stacked the deck in the Western conference. 3 straight Finals appearances, nobody could compete simply because the roster was too talented.

You have games where Kobe plays like garbage and Lakers still win.

Finally Pau Gasol can't carry Kobe because of locker room issues, and Kobe's Lakers get swept and humiliated once again.

Game 5 of the 2004 NBA finals- Lakers lost 100-87 but the game was not indicative of the final score. Pistons were leading 82-59 after three quarters and the Lakers got a bunch of points in garbage time to make the score look more respectable.

Game 7 of the 2006 Western Conference First Round- Lakers lost 121-90 to the Suns.

Game 6 of the 2008 NBA finals- Lakers lost 131-92 to the Celtics

Game 4 of the 2010 Western Conference Semifinals- Lakers lose 122-86 to the Mavericks

Four losses of 25 points or more and it would have been five if the Pistons hadn't taken their foot off the gas pedal. Has there ever been another superstar player and all-time great with as many blowout losses in elimination games as Kobe Bryant has?

The spurs game wasn't an elimination game for the lakers.

In 3 of the most important games of the season, guy scores 16, 15 and 17 points.

And they mention him in GOAT talks, what a joke.

The only thing he candidates for is for MOAT.

Most overrated of all time.

Um. Yes it was.

LOS ANGELES, May 15 (Ticker) -- A steady diet of Tim Duncan was the recipe the San Antonio Spurs used to end the reign of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Duncan collected 37 points and 16 rebounds as the Spurs never trailed after the game's first minute and cruised to a 110-82 rout, ending the run of the three-time defending champion Lakers.

San Antonio won the series in six games and advanced to the Western Conference Finals for the second time in three years. The Spurs will face Dallas or Sacramento.

"Tim Duncan is a fantastic competitor, as we all know," San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said. "But I thought in Game 5 and Game 6, he was astounding in his focus. He pulled everyone along these last two games."

San Antonio was the last team to defeat the Lakers in the postseason, sweeping them in the semifinals in the Spurs' 1999 championship season. The win also snapped Los Angeles' run of 13 straight playoff series triumphs

I mentioned this in the game thread. Odd coincidence.
