"Far superior" teams close out the inferior team in 4 games, not let them stretch to 7. It was a good series. OKC has some serious flaws. They have a budding superstar and some nice players around him, but they are nowhere near a complete team or good enough to be called "far superior" to the Grizzlies.

Game 7s: fun for the neutral fans, but absolute hell for the real fans of either team.

People have such high expectations for game 7. The better team usually figures the lesser team out by that point.

Kings Lakers 2002 was a good game 7. I'm sure ref conspiracy theorists and kings fans would disagree though.

Other than game 1, the last 6 games OKC dominated pretty much. Had they not blown double digit 2nd half leads in all three games in Memphis this series wouldnt have been as close, and would not have lasted as long.

Lol if they were a "far" superior game the series wouldnt' go to 7 games. If they were far superior team they wouldn't blow double digit 2nd half leads in three games. OKC was the better team, but it was only by a hair.

Pretty much all of the above from this thread. Nerves are a big part, but home court advantage not only gives the home team life, but it causes the officials to get caught up in the atmosphere as well. I'm not saying they fix games or anything, but it's hard to remain objective when that atmosphere is in place.

Mistakes in a game 7 are punished harder than in in the earlier ones because their is maybe no chance to make up for them (except later in the same game7 maybe). This is partly why everybody gets more cautious and which slows down games.

I don't know what do you want but game 7 is emotional game and home court usually get more emotion.

Last year the Lakers were down in the 3rd and came back. That was epic. They really let them play that game. The NBA didn't want to let a lot of free throws be the story all summer. And I agree but it was like wrestling i the 1st 3 quarters.

A lot of it has to do with not enough rest before game 7. Give each team 3 days off before the big game.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

Yes, but free throws were the story 20 of them to be exact for the Lakers in the 4th. More than the Celtics shot in the entire game. The tone of the officiating totally changed in that 4th quarter- suddenly everything the Celtics did was called a foul even though many calls were highly suspect
