did somebody just say lebron guards C's? i have never seen him pushing guys like Howard out of the paint because he was locking them down...lebron can guard almost any position but be real now...hes not gonna be caught guarding a center unless its a defensive switch and a mismatch

Only adam morrison can guard all 5 spots..and he can do it at once

Joel Anthony averaged 20 mpg and Haslem played 11 games, yet the Heat were the 5th best defense in the NBA this season. Of course Anthony had an impact but lets not overstate it. Lebron James is by far the best defensive player on Miami.

Spo had a great quote after game 5 of the Celts series, saying that Lebron guarded literally everyone t he Celtis played in the series at least 10 possessions except Shaq. Said he had wished Shaq played a little more in the last games so Lebron could complete the cycle.

LeBron's defense in the playoffs has been nothing short of amazing. Closing out defenders, rebounding in traffic, single- handedly slowing down fast breaks, helping from the weakside, etc. I knew Lebron was a good defender but I never knew he was this good.

I was very impressed by his defense on Rose today, as well as his hustle to loose balls.

Not a fan of his personality, but LeBron may be the best player I've seen since prime Jordan, including possibly Shaq.

He's not even better than Dirk Nowitzki.

Not to mention prime T-Mac, Kobe, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnet, etc. Half the time, he isn't even better than his own teammate.

But, it's realgm. Overreactions are the norm.

Pretty sick a 270 pound SF can lock down the most explosive PG in the game. He was in Rose's head, poor guy...

Nothing. He's not definitively better than any of the players I mentioned. Especially Duncan, and Kobe. And I didn't even mention Shaq.

People are overreacting, as I said.

that's your opinion yet you are kind of stating it as a fact.....but if lebron keeps up this play for another 5 years or so and picks up a few titles he will be right up there with kobe and duncan....

I don't overreact to new stuff. I've seen Tim Duncan, and I don't find him as impressive as Hakeem Olajuwon. I've seen Kevin Garnett, and I don't consider him better than Karl Malone or David Robinson (although KG is still noteworthy for being possibly the most versatile player ever). I've seen prime T-Mac and Kobe, and they're nice, but well short of MJ.

LeBron isn't at MJ's level, but his peak play is higher than everyone on that list except possibly Duncan, and I think I take LeBron still.

you sure about that man? duncan could carry teams when he was younger.....never flashy but he was always effective

People love to overreact and exaggerate, especially Lebron homer. Realistically, Lebron is an above defender. His lack of fundamental skill in footwork and defensive rotation make up with supreme athletics, strength, and anticipation.

MJ/Pippen are two perfect example of players with all the combination of a good defender. I might throw Kobe in there too if his head is in the game.

Rest assure that I've been observing Lebron's defense and offense. And I'm an unbias person. I saw it with my own eyes. Lebron requires his supreme athletic ability and strength to contain his man. He doesn't have proper footwork nor does he know how to play the angle. And no, Rose was double team throughout the series. I wouldn't say Lebron stop him at all. He had sketch of good defense on Rose.

The thing I'm impress with Lebron is his tremendous STRENGTH and ANTICIPATION, which make LEBRON ONE OF THE BEST, if not the GREATEST wing help defender IN NBA HISTORY. But defense is more than help defense.

Earl Sweatshirt (Durant) and initiald (Kobe) both have some extreme and well-known player biases that are probably clouding their judgement here, since of course the higher in esteem people hold Lebron, the "worse" it is for other star wings. Those trying to debate them, I wouldn't pay then much mind n

When he defends like he did in game 3 he is the best perimeter defender in the league, his man defense and impact team defense was as good as ive seen him play. If he put that kind of effort in every regular season game hed be scary good. With the other 2 super best friends on his team now he really should look at becoming a lock down defender. He was great on rose again in the fourth quarter today.

He has the ability to be one of the premier defenders in the leauge but like many superstars thats not always the case. Not to say hes bad by any means, hes been very good this year.

Semi off topic but tony allen was the best perimeter defender this year and got robbed in defensive first team.
