I see this as a downgrade.

Rockets are a young team in rebuild mode. McHale makes a lot of sense since he works well with young players in that kind of environment.

Adelman wants to win now, so the Rockets weren't the best fit for him career wise.

I guess we'll see. adelman has a 1561-945 record coaching, including a .503 record in the playoffs, 2 nba finals, 2 western conference finals, and 4 conference semifinals under his belt in 20 seasons. mchale has... a 38-105 record coaching. not sure how houston fans view that as a win, but as a fan of another western conference team - congrats!

bad gm, bad commentator, but his coaching skills weren't that bad given the talent his GM (also mchale) acquired.

Rockets have the coach they want already in Bill Finch, but he isn't ready for the NBA.

McHale is a good interim choice because he can work with Thabeet, Jordan Hill and Patrick Patterson to develop their games. There are rumors out there that we are interested in moving up to nab Kanter, so if true, it makes more sense.

I love Adelman, his offensive system is fantastic, but he was not very good at player development and winning at all costs is not really a good plan anymore for us. The 14th pick in the draft two years running is not a good place to be.

I can stand behind this.

McHale should do fine. Each time he took over as coach for the Wolves, their record improved. I'm surprised that he agreed, the reason why he had short coaching stints with the Wolves is because he said he didn't like the traveling schedule to coach long-term.

So I guess the Rockets are in full-scale rebuilding mode; player development, losing, overall rebuilding.

Step 5: Refused to be classified as Laker "bandwagoner" since Heat formed.
