Dirk won with Terry as his sidekick....

Post#1 » by ikidunot » Mon Jun 13, 2011 10:52 pm

I don't get it. Dirk won with Terry, a bench player who is in his 30's as his sidekick But Lebron couldn't win with Mo Williams who was younger and faster??? Dirk can win with Terry as his sidekick but Bron can't win with Wade or Bosh???

It doesn't make any sense.

From an article I read.

Dallas proved that you don’t need a gaggle of the world’s most talented players to get the job done, just a bench full of players willing to work hard and sacrifice themselves for the greater good.

People are saying Jet is better than Mo Williams, But people didn't think that before this series. Dallas was suppose to lose in the first round. A lot of people thought JET should have been traded years ago.

Terry wasnt his sidekick. He had a whole team of deadly 3-point shooters and veteran guys who know how to play.

Makes perfect sense, because it's a team sport.

Dallas had a deep and balanced team, Miami had 3 stars and a couple quality bench players who played the same positions as those stars(miller/haslem). They had talent overlap issues offensively, not enough PG or C talent. They got to the Finals with incredible defense, hero ball shots dropping and large FT advantages.

There's no drop off between Terry and the next best players though. Chandler and Marion are very good players. Barea and Kidd can be game-changers as well.

With Dallas, you can't just look at who the best two players are and make some kind of sweeping judgement.

I hate when people do this.

If you're implying Terry is a "scrub" or a bad scoring option then why were some people saying he should of been Co-MVP?

If he was putting like 6 ppg and the Mavs still won then yeah, you got a good argument but Terry played great for most of the series.

It was more teamwork than anything, although Terry finished the series off really well.

I'll take great teamwork, ball movement, passion-filled, clutch basketball over Wade James and Bosh any day.

EDIT: and enough with the whole supporting cast threads...you win if you have a good team, end of story.

Did you even watch how Terry played last three games?
Besides it's a team of willing passers and deadly shooters, they got it done old school way with one superstar who draws doubles, rest is pick and roll and ball movement at level that I remember last time watching 2002 Kings. Team basketball won today, guys being on the same page- chemistry counts, you cannot just put teams on paper and expect they'll perform like Dallas.
