This is not true in the least. Boston is a PRO-SPORTS city. All four big sports have die-hard fans and draw giant crowds during their championship parades. All the support that that is thrown behind high school and college sports in other parts of the country goes to professional sports in Boston. High schools and colleges (even Boston College) barely have any support compared to other parts of the country.

The MBTA doesn't look like much either compared to NYC

while crowd estimate is still an art more than science it was has been estimated that the 2004 red sox parade had over 3.2 million people...

An estimated 3 million people attended a parade in Boston, United States celebrating the Boston Red Sox's victory on October 30, 2004. The victory ended an 86 year drought of world series championships and ended the era of the famous Curse of the Bambino for the Red Sox.[35]

"7 Miles, 86 Years Worth of Partying"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_la ... in_history

as for the boston bruin......

After ending a 39-year Cup drought in Beantown, members of the Bruins and their families were welcomed by an estimated 1.5 million delirious fans Saturday.
The parade featured a line-up of 18 duck boats in a three-mile route through the city.

there's nothing close between 1.5 and 3 million and nothing close between 3 miles and 7 miles.
" reporters" needs to check their facts before spewing out nonsense.

And Chicago is not even all that great of a hockey town. They are crazy about Football and Basketball and then Baseball and THEN Hockey.

4 million?????? why dont you just said 10 million to make it even sound better. all the reports estimate around 2 million.

chicago has 2 baseball teams that are both worth more than the chicago bulls, draw more fans, make more money, and you claim that basketball is bigger in chicago?

its football 1, baseball 1a........and then basketball, then hockey.

Dallas and the state of Texas is all football. Still don't know what's the big deal and why you all are obsessed with crowd comparisons, it doesn't change the fact that they're the champions whether they had 2 million show up or just 1 guy show up.

With that said, if the Cowboys won the Super Bowl, the entire state of Texas would be at Dallas celebrating.

In fairness though, by the middle of the parade there would probably be 500.

come on people it take a lot of passion to come out to the parade and go to the airport to greet your returning champ.

hoops and hockey fans should outnumber football and baseball parades by the millions. baseball parade is 90% the ether is damp. cold and raining, football parade is usually bitter cold, snow and windy depending which part of the country you in.

NBA and NHL fans got it good with summer parades.

same amount of people showed up at the airport at 3am to greet the texas ranger after they won their first playoff series against the rays and the amount of people showed up for the mavs return from miami as champions.

there are more people pasionate about the bruins in boston then there are people who are passionate about the mavs in dallas...simple as that

Probably true, the Dolphins fanbase is huge not only in Florida but other states, and even overseas. Each time we play the Chargers there's tons of Dolphins' fans in San Diego.

Lakers parade was way worse. I guess they got tired of winning lol.

If the Raptors make the Finals, Stern has to make them win or Toronto will destroy itself like Vancouver. Them Canadians dont play.

I dont know how you still make this claim, after two other Laker fans posted the real # of people who showed up for the parade's, that 65k # was just a strech of street of the parade route it wasn't the total # of all the fans. As for your 2nd comment I guess your team didn't like winning than?

8,100,000 people in NYC

The Boston area has 4 and Hokey is probably 4th on the list, so this doesn't make sense either.

Also people blaming the weather. It's June, not August. I was in Texas when the Mavs won the championship(Fort Worth) and the climate wasn't that bad. Terrible excuse.

I think there are 2 key components here.

1) weather -- It was hot, they had 3-4 people deal with heat stroke before 11 am. It wasn't a 110 for sure, but if anyone knows Texas weather.. and or DFW weather it changes on a dime. They had ice storms during the superbowl week and golf ( 70 ish) weather by the weekend. That's just how that place rolls, I have lived there.

2) It was during the week. People just cannot leave their jobs to go see a parade. My friends who run a company in North Dallas couldnt leave, but their wives and kids went.

That being said, DFW is a funny place when it comes to sports. I have been to many games at Jerry World last year for the cowboys and the fans themselves are very docile. I remember being at the Bears game ( it was friggin hot outside-- for tailgating) and the Bears fans owned that place. I didn't root for either team, but I felt the need to talk smack back to the Bears fans, because the Cowboy fans wouldn't. And don't get me started on the Rangers...

We didn't have a parade ceremony last year... thats what happens when your team wins so much they are practically bankrupting your city due to 5 championship parades in 11 years... but you wouldn't know anything about that.

Regardless of your LIE, there were 500,000 fans at the celebration last year

The USC Coliseum alone holds 90,000 people and it was over max capacity during the parade. So nice try there.

it's what I read here, I dunno why you guys are getting so sensitive lol

Sensitive or factual? That article said it was 65k on Figueoria street alone.
