Basketball it's not an individual sport. Everytime someone says that, we have to bring "MJ without Pippen" on the table?

And If you lose a game, it doesn't mean that you are not good, maybe the other team were better than you.

that could be true but the way i see it is....If you're suppose to be a Superstar then you have to be able to elevate your teams play when it matters most if you are widely respected enough to be Considered that good...Yao for the most part was unable to do that but there are other factors though(Teammates,Opponents,Refs)

Dwight Howard is NOT better than Yao Ming and I'm a Magic fan.

Yao dismantled Dwight on a regular basis. He was too tall and too strong for Dwight cause Howard couldn't move Yao's base, period.

Truthfully speaking, besides Shaq, Greg Oden has been the only other C I've seen move Yao's base.

Yao is easily the best C in the game and one of the greatest ever AS LONG AS he is fully healthy. He can dominate not only with his 7-6 height, also with his excellent shooting stroke, footwork and hook shots. I remember in the 2009 playoffs how he single-handed the Blazers without HCA and then how he dominated both Gasol and Bynum in Game 1 of Round 2 and therefore we lost that game. In that time, he was unstoppable. Thanks God he got injured and we were able to get past Houston and eventually winning the championship.

So much unnecessary hate in this thread. Like other posters have said, yes we realize that he was injury prone but the purpose of this thread is to discuss "what if".

Yao was such a special player. I remember watching him effortlessly score in the post. He had so many offensive weapons: the soft turnaround jump-shot, hook shot in the lane, spin moves. He was a truly dominant scoring center (and his defense was pretty good too!). There isn't a center in the league who you can go to now for an automatic bucket like you could with Yao. Not to mention the guy shot an awesome percentage from the line, which always leads to great scoring numbers.

Nash and Yao should team-up with a contender not named Heat. they both deserve a ring.

Dwight is arguably top 2-3 player in this league. People saying healthy Yao would dominate Dwight.. so healthy Yao would be GOAT then?

I was a big Yao supporter, but I just don't see it. I know he dominated Dwight in the past, but that was before Dwight figured out big centers. Now he would just run around Yao, get him into foul trouble, etc. Yao is too slow and can't jump, he won't be able to guard Dwight as effectively now. Stop comparing Yao to a young Dwight.

Healthy Yao would easily score on anyone, though. I don't see anyone that can guard him once he gets the ball.

All this blah blah Yao is better but he isn't because he can't stay healthy. Dwight's durability plus the player he is now makes him better.

Durability is huge in this league especially for a Star like Dwight.

He's a 19 and 9 guy, certainly not 25 and 12 like you first stated. Very good number, but not great, he's certainly not 'torturing' anyone.

How many 19 and 9 guys commanded more attention from opposing defenses than Yao Ming?
