Why is Kareem not the GOAT on everyones list?

Post#1 » by LovetheNBA1 » Sun Jun 26, 2011 4:41 am

When people debate the Goat, just keep in mind, when Kareem was 39 he was still doing it big.

Jordan was making a joke of himself with the Wizards.

I mean come ,32 points to clinch a title at 39? Its so sad Kareem does not get his due. Now that he has cancer, one day we will wake up and find that he passed, and then people will finally remember his as the goat.

Because there is no clear defined GOAT?
No player fits everyone's GOAT criteria, Jordan just fits most peoples GOAT criteria

The term GOAT is a term that is defined by individual perception. That is where the line starts and ends. Nothing more, nothing less.

Kareem meets every criteria. He did vs Wilt to MJ, and did it at a higher level then both.

The man went to 10 finals, all time scoring leader, 3 NCAA titles as the man, 6 MVPs, and did not tail off much, he just adjusted his game. 32 points at the age of 39? And the next year he won the title starting again. And the next year he got to the finals again.

No slippage.

So its not what a guy has done? Just how fans are entertained by a player? If that is the case, yes Jordan was the most entertaining for me. But that to me is not a GOAT. I personally like watching 6 '6 guards score 50 points and hit clutch shots. But Kareem was better through out his career.

Jordan's Wizards days can't be forgotten.

On most days, I do think KAJ is the GOAT. It's not really a crazy opinion. Jordan is close though, and some days I would put him on top.

But this thread seems more about how you don't like Jordan than about how you like Abdul-Jabbar. Why is that?

WASHINGTON — Coming off the worst game of his career, Michael Jordan felt he needed to make a statement. Boy, did he ever.

Embarrassing every defender who tried to guard him, Jordan scored 51 points and set franchise records with 24 first-quarter points and 34 points in a half Saturday night as the Wizards snapped a two-game losing streak with a 107-90 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.

This was a month shy of birthday #39 for Mr. Jordan.

Averaging 23 ppg at the age of 38 and 20 ppg at 39 is certainly nothing I'd find myself giggling about.

Ob please, i lived in DC and went to every game with season tickets. He was a joke, there were some games he would brick a storm and start yelling at others. He called Kwame a F , when he drafted him. He traded Rip Hamilton because Rip was better then him at that point.

He was a joke. His teams did not even challange for the playoffs both years he was there.

Kareem WAS DONG ON A FINALS STAGE at 39 and 40. Kareem did it big from the 60s to almost 1990.

Its not up for debate.

I will concede that he wasn't within light years of his former self, but to call him a joke at that stage is quite extreme, and you as a poster have been exposed for your transparent bias regarding this debate.

Anyone who scores 20 ppg in the greatest basketball league in the world should NEVER be reasonably called a "joke".

He was a joke for someone as great as him. He was missing dunks in both all star games he played in. Bricking up storms.
Of course i do not mean a joke , like Lebron in the finals because scared. I mean in his talents being diminished.
