my pick is LBJ 8-)

more hoopla than any other player ever,.issues, the hummer, jerseys, coming to the nba as a junior, espn covers, slam covers, nike contract worth 90mil even before playing a single nba game..

what's your pick??

LeBron didn't live up to the hype though. So far, that is. It can change.

the rookie lebron mix makes him look intriguing, its so crazy to look at him there and see him transformed into what he is is. I like where the thread could be, len bias maybe? Jordan comeback like said could work. Yao for china's antcipation maybe..

I was gonna say Yao Ming as well. That was huge for the NBA globally.

This is idiotic...

LBJ has to be it...

This guy was hyped up since his freshman year of HS as the next MJ. Some critics saying he could/would be better than Jordan

It was ridiculous.

I myself have never seen anyone as hyped or anticipated coming into the NBA than LBJ. Especially his Junior and Senior year. By god it was a circus around this kid.

So far in his career he has lived up to the hype.

I don't know what you're trying to insist upon.

Even though he doesn't have a title. He has 2 league MVP's, and has been the best player in the NBA for the last 3 years. On top of that, he's led his team to the finals twice (Though He's lost both). He's the youngest player to ever achieve statistical plateau's in nearly every facet of the game. On top of that, he's still 26 years old going on 27. Jordan himself didn't get to, or even win a championship until age 28.

To say he hasn't lived up to the hype is ridiculous.

There have been some great hypes but Jabbar and Lebron are on the top.

But the most hype is Lebron because of the internet, more TV talk, and more newspaper. If Jabbar would be rookie in 2003 i think it would be Jabbar, he was that good.

But Lebron was the King before he played a game and he is still the king with out a ring today(but that is just wrong).

Nope, sorry. He was marketed, ridiculously marketed as the next MJ, as "The King." No rings = failure. Like I said, this can, and most probably will change.

Wow, the hate from some people. So Karl Malone, Reggie Miller, Steve Nash, John Stockton, Patrick Ewing were all failures to you? No rings = failure is the dumbest thing I've ever read.

I was merely commenting on LeBron failing to live up to the hype, not saying he himself is a total failure because he didn't win any rings. If he doesn't win any rings, then it's a failure on the part of him not living up to the hype.
