WT: Jazz Shopping Jefferson, Millsap

Post#1 » by Xsy » Tue Nov 29, 2011 6:17 am

The Jazz are shopping Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap, according to league executives.

The Jazz appear eager to build their frontcourt around the younger combination of Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors.

Every Jazz fan saw these two on the trading block since the lockout started-- but will they send both packing, or keep one of them?

What do you think Millsap and Jefferson are worth?

I'm assuming Utah's looking for young back court players, and draft picks.

Well, on that sort of thing just go around the league looking for teams in or around the playoffs who need PFs. Young rebuilding teams won't want them. But a team like Indiana might. Or Orlando looking for help for Dwight. Or Philly desperate for frontcourt help. Or Atlanta looking at Jefferson as a center. etc. Would the Jazz go for a Paul George, or Evan Turner?

Yeah, there's been a lot of talk about Millsap and Indiana. If Pacers do trade for him, they better not overpay. Collison and a 1st would be the most I would go. We could just sign David West and keep our pick and Collison too.

Devin harris is already better than Collison, why would the Jazz do that trade?

Pacers would be stupid to even entertain that. Especially when we can sign a player like David West who is not far off from Millsap.

You're either going to not have Millsap or be very disappointed.

I do too, but we're pretty much set for the future at PF, and he needs starter minutes next season.

Millsap can fetch us more in a trade than he could contribute off the bench.

Not by much and Collison is younger and cheaper. Wouldn't Utah want more of a distributor anyways?

I'd love Paul George but it'd be overly optimistic to expect the Pacers to give him up so soon. Granger makes sense, he's right on par with PER-wise with Millsap, they'd save some money, and clear up some playing time for George and Stephenson. I could see something like Millsap,Miles, and the GSW pick for Granger and AJ Price.

Turner is an interesting player but if I remember right he doesn't have much of a jumper. The Jazz need shooters if they're building around Jefferson, Kanter, and Favors.

Pacers wouldn't trade Granger for Millsap. The whole point of trading for Millsap is to get better now. Getting better now and trading Granger would be going to opposite directions. And according to people with the Pacers, Paul George is valued more than Granger, so I can't see the Pacers trading either for a player like Millsap. And to be honest, they would be absolutely dumb to. Especially with the opportunity to keep all your assets and get a 4 who would impact the game as much as Millsap would in free agency. It may cost more, but we'll have to hit the salary minimum anyways.

Oh but he is. And Harris has averaged more assists then Collison the last 2 years.

Pheonix could make a play for either Jefferson or Millsap.

Damn, I was really hoping to see more of Milsap at SF. Always funny to watch a real team use 2k style 3 big man lineups.

Not really. Collison is much more efficient. Harris plays more minutes and his assist numbers dropped in Utah. Collison had to play the first half of the season under Jim O'Brien who's offensive system isn't too friendly towards point guards.

Collison is also 4 years younger and about $8 million dollars per year cheaper.

We're not shopping both of them.

Not unless we've been scouting money man Memo in Turkey land and feel that he can come play at a high level... which I doubt. Highly.

I'm guessing it will be one or the other. KoC is probably calling teams up with Millsap deals and then offering Jefferson instead if they don't bite to see what he could get.
