SI asked 137 NBA players who they would choose first if starting a team from scratch. Here are the results:

1. Lebron
2. D12
3. Durant
4. Kobe
5. Rose
6. Chris Paul
7. D-Wade
8. Nash
8. Blake Griffin
9. Deron
10. Pau
11. Rondo
12. Eric Gordon
13. Rubio
14. Bynum

Interesting list. Would have expected Nash/Kobe lower due to age, Bynum higher, and Love on the list.

Pau? Nash? Eric Gordon? This list is bogus.

In their primes? Who would want to start a team with Kobe who has a few years left

Surprised not to see Kobe and Durant higher than Lebron. NBA player's aren't as dumb as I thought.

NBA players don't always know the ins and outs of the business, but that doesn't mean they're stupid either. First three are correct and probably in the right order too. After that, now... just because of the question I would shy away from a guy like Kobe or Nash. If you're planning for a run where you get one, maybe two chances... then I'd say you can take Nash even if other guys are better. But if you're starting a team, that's just wrong. Maybe it would be a little less so with Kobe, but same sort of thing.

Because LeBron is the only player on that list that can take a team of bench players to 66 wins.

Love stat pads and I think everyone and their mama knows it at this point. Why Eric Gordon, though? Unmotivated, overrated, one dimensional undersized shooting guard who seems to be injury prone. Not sure what shining hope they see there.

Or a team of franchise players to an embarassing Finals loss.

I really don't have an issue with the top 10 except for the fact that Dirk isn't on it. Surprised Nash got the shout out he deserves.

In other news, most NBA players would make terrible GMs. The first couple are obvious to anyone, but after that ....yikes.

In the players' defense, some actual NBA GM's make terrible GM's.

How about getting beat by one of the greatest playoff teams in the last decade?

Tearing down LeBron and Co means you're giving no credit to how good Dirk and Co were last year. Dirk 2011 was the most impressive playoff performance I've ever seen since Shaq 2000-01.
