Top 2

1. Lebron
2. Durant

Rose and Howard may make some noise but in the end these two will duke it out.

MVP award doesn't mean much in a compressed season like this. More interested to see who the playoffs MVP will be

So... we were discussing how much Durant deserves the MVP over Lebron.

Simply put Lebron will get it if the Heat have the top spot in the East. If they are 2nd he won't get it barring the Thunder are #1 out West.

I don't know...Heat could be 2 seed and Lebron still gets it. Voters will have in the back of their head last year when Bulls were #1 seed, 3-0 vs Heat, and well...1-4 vs Heat in the playoffs.

But we are talking about Lebron vs Durant, which has nothing to do with Bulls vs Heat last year.

People, don't forget Dwight. He's number 3 right now in most lists.
.
If Orlando start winning more, I can see him getting the 2nd spot.
.
We're talking about 21 POINTS AND 15 REBOUNDS on 57% FG and 2.2 blocks

ok, if that is the logic then they wouldnt give it to Lebron until he can show he plays well in the finals and win as the favorite.

 All I mean is, I don't think lack of #1 seed will be as detrimental to Lebron's MVP campaign as some seem to think.

LeBron is shooting 55% as a perimeter player! Career highs in 3P% and rebounds. Heat are currently 1.5 games behind Chicago and he is the MVP. For his struggles in last years finals he is having the best season out of anybody in the league, for the past few years.

What does Lebron winning MVP this season have to do with winning in the Finals?

Lebron didn't win an MVP last year and they still lost, so I'm not able to fathom where you're trying to go with this. I guess you are just baiting as usual.

You should really be more concerned about The Bulls making it out of the ECF than what the Heat will do in the Finals. Seems your priorities are not quite in order. Or maybe it's just a lack of faith in your own team?

Don't worry, I'm not questioning whether LeBron James deserves MVPs. He deserves as many as the voters provide.

What I'm talking about is the perception of LeBron James. If he were to have 3 MVPs and no rings?

I'm explaining how LeBron James will not feel so proud of winning MVP every year, if he can't win a ring, let alone his personal/public goal of 7 rings.

I'm not concerned about the Bulls. We already have 6 rings. And my favorite player won MVPs AND rings.

On a team that was the hands down favorite why would you get MVP without being the top seed?

You're playing the IF game. Well, IF you believe Lebron and his current team are incapable of winning a Championship, then fine. I on the other hand, feel the Heat is a team that can contend for many years to come, while winning ring(s) in the process. None of that has anything to do with a regular season MVP award however.

Either way, winning 3 MVP awards won't be seen as the negative here, senseless suggestion. NOT winning a championship however of course, will. Two completely different accolades (self/team) involving two different seasons (regular/post) yet you want to somehow combine them in THIS discussion? Makes no sense to me...unless of course you're baiting.

Nobody's ever won 3 MVP awards without winning a title.

If he doesn't win a ring this year, I think his MVP days are done, no matter what his stats are.

This is technically not true...Wilt won his 3rd MVP the year he won his first title, so technically they gave him the award while he was still title-less, and clearly voted for him while he was still title-less

Now, back then, players, not journalists, voted for MVPs. And Wilt did win his 1st title that year. But still.

Also Moses Malone, However in both cases they had the best numbers and won 7 more games than the next closest team so there was no choice but to give them MVP.

We can argue technicalities, but I'll stick with my statement.

If LeBron wins the MVP and Miami doesn't win, he's not winning it again until he gets a ring first.

Even if he averages 33 9 9 2 1.5 on 57% 40% 87% And wins 73 Games? Which is definitely possible?

You're not a voter so quit saying such foolishness.
