I hope you're being sarcastic.

I don't know for sure, but I think there may be some truth to it. A good friend of mine has a sister that played at a major D-1 program and was on the AAU women's basketball circuit in Texas (their dad was the AAU coach). When Griner was in still high school, he told how her dad would go to every out of town tourney with her, wouldn't allow her to share a hotel room with other members of her team, and was just generally overprotective. There could be more a lot more to it (ie. protecting her from bullying and teasing perhaps?), but my first thought was she may have a medical condition...

Must be a troll, or hasn't bothered to take the five minutes to use a search engine to look up and compare NBA and WNBA salaries.

She has obscure set of genitals like hermaphrodites usually do. Let's be out on the open with these issues. We can help these people feel more comfortable with themselves when it is out in the open on a regular basis.

I have played against very good Division I women's basketball players. From my experience, there is no chance that a girl can compete in the NBA.

All that would do is make your franchise a laughingstock.

Why stop with a female 12th man as a publicity stunt? Why not a midget? Why not a horse?

Danica Patrick is still racing. I don't follow NASCAR but I have a few friends who do and the b**ch about how bad she is (and still getting sponsors for her races).

I don't think a woman will ever play meaningful minutes in the NBA. I could see a publicity stunt, but nothing more. It isn't a knock on women - I love watching women's college basketball, it's fundamentally sound, competitive, chippy. From my experience, though, I would agree with the physicality argument. In junior high I played against a woman who had played college basketball (small school); she was about 6 inches taller than me; I had her physically outmatched anyways. It made me all the more frustrated when she (barely) beat me

I've played against girls who play for our college team...tourney team too. They can't beat non D-1 guys. They can dribble with both hands and make layups, but they're not strong or quick enough to be a real threat.

They got sick pump fakes and can score outside the lane, but can't stop you/me

lol @ all the people claiming they played against Division I women and owned them.

Not saying Grimer would make it in the NBA (she almost certainly would not), but I'm pretty sure she's a better all around player then 99.9999% of realgm posters.

Why is this so hard to believe? At my school they run games against random guys at the rec center.

Yeah Division 1 guys come in all the time in the off season too. Granted they're not going too hard, but they still play in pickup games.

No way.

Her two best attributes, rebounding and shot blocking, will be useless in the NBA against these bigger, taller, and stronger opponents. I doubt she can score either.

Maybe she can play PF against soft players like Ryan Anderson.

I'd take anybody on RealGM who is athletic and played varsity high school basketball.

A lot of you guys are seriously overrating women basketball players. When I was in college, I played pickup ball with them in the summer and was not impressed. They would come into the gym, call 3 nexts (annoying), all play on the same team, run zones, complain about snowbirding, foul, and they still lost about half the time. This was in a college rec center during the summer, not the Rucker.

Ryan Anderson, who you call a soft PF, is a starting PF in the NBA who is averaging (apart from 16.1 PPG) 7.5 RPG (including 3.6 ORPG), he is 6-10 and 240 lbs and I'd argue he would be starting on many other teams in the league. Griner can't possibly play a power position in the NBA against any player, even someone soft (but I'd disagree that Anderson is soft).

I think if you took the USA women's dream team they would have a pretty good chance against some men's D1 teams... Obviously not your top tier teams like Kentucky or UNC but they could hold their own against teams from non major conferences.
