I didn't really see OKC bringing in Fisher under the guise that they thought he'd suddenly be more productive. I saw it as more of a 'let's bringing in a veteran cheerleader/guy that knows how to win in the playoffs and can mentor our young guys' move.

The Thunder were only looking for leadership. The Lakers supposedly got a major upgrade.
If Kobe doesnt miss that game Saturday and the Lakers beat the Suns, then their record without Fisher would go to 9-5 (.642).. Your using WAY too small of a sample size.
Because Kobe and the Lakers beat the Suns in Phoenix the last time they played, right?

This was a signing for the playoffs. It will be like having a coach on the floor and will give them another option in the halfcourt set

LOL at everyone hating on Fisher. Everyone knows he sucks as a player, that's not what they signed him for. Fisher is basically a player-coach at this point; to say that he has no value because he sucks as a player is (Please Use More Appropriate Word).
Can Derek Fisher still ball? Do you think Phil can score from the high post? Can Thibbs rotate onto a slasher? Does it matter that they can't? The answer to all these questions is no.

Not going to get any better as the sample size grows. The lakers go 5-4 from here.

Between Derek, Phil and Thibbs, which one is playing 20 mins per game?

IMHO, what's the point of helping his team with untangibles when inside the court, he hurts his team with poor playing, low scoring, turnovers and ridiculous defense?
.
This is why this argument makes no sense to me. Even if I accept that he can help the team by just being there, scoring 2 points on 2-7, having 2 assists, 1 rebound, 3 turnovers and 2 fouls just **** his team even more. What is the **** point?
.
Oh, also, I forgot. He does this crappy numbers, and in 20+ minutes, which is even worse
see lakers chemistry since he left.

That's not his fault, that's the fault of Brooks choosing to play him that much.

Whether he is good or not is not the point. He has the respect of his team. I don't think anybody on OKC expected him to go there and drop 10pts a game and have 5 assists. Thats just not what he is these days. With the young team like they are, they brought him in to kind of be the father figure amongst the players, and make sure they focus when it matters, which is when the playoffs start. Even if he doesn't play 1 minute in the playoffs, it pays for him being on the team. He is a voice that I think they need in that locker room.

Thanks to Louis-D

Regardless of who's "fault" that is, it still disproves your assumption that he's a player coach whose on the court play is inconsequential.
Until Fisher is in street clothes with a clipboard, his poor play on the court will always factor in to his overall value to a team.

Great game so far. Fisher really showing how his experience and leadership can change a game
.
1-3FG and 4 turnovers in just 14 minutes
.
Want someone to give advices to your players? Hire him as an assistant, don't put him to suck 20 minutes

I feel like he will give you 18 pts-20 pts vs. 23-25 pts next year on 57 ts% instead of 54%. He also costs 10 million dollars less. So it is a wash.

Since coming to OKC, Fisher in 21 minutes (wayyyyy too much) is shooting 26% from the floor and 23% from three. There isn't a worse rotational player in the NBA right now getting that little production out of that many minutes.
