Again, I think this award is devalued once again. He deserves credit for improving the Knicks defensively but I think DPOY takes it too far.
Dwight is still a much better defensive player (irrespective of off-court issues) and this year, Kevin Garnett has been a much more impactful defender. And there are a couple of perimeter players that need no introduction who have a very high impact too.
People are quick to suggest Dallas miss Tyson but it's not as drastic as things would initially seem - over the regular season they rank exactly where they used to, defensively. They probably miss Chandler's more efficient offensive game, if anything. That New York were top 5 defensively and Dallas (pre and post-Chandler) rank 11th also makes me question the whole DRtg thing anyway. If we do put much weight behind team DRtg then Miami were a better defensive team than New York, only their defence is anchored on the perimeter. Interesting...
But of course, Chandler is doing a storming job so far against Miami. LeBron (56.3%), Wade (61.3%), Bosh (52.6%) really struggling for points in the paint.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.
Own A Team - Cleveland Rockers
Kyrie Irving / Wes Matthews / Paul George / Chris Bosh / Omer Asik
Isaiah Thomas / Jarrett Jack / Corey Brewer / Thomas Robinson / Jeff Withey

Someone is hating. Not only was he sick but he lost a reported 15-20lbs.
He deserved it. Wasn't my first choice but should be in everyone's top 5.

Guy is a bit of a freak, didn't he come in the league as a SF or something? Huge hands, long arms, freakish tall.

While I'm not Knicks fan how can any not respect Chandler as a player and person. Good for him, it's nice to see a class act succeed.

Agree with all of the above. The NBA feels like they need to spread it around or something. Not to take anything away from Chandler, but Dwight is easily the better defensive player.
