1985 Finals - Did the 2-3-2 format kill Boston that season?

I guess my whole takeaway from this thread and others regarding the 2-3-2 format is that it's a massive disadvantage for the road team.

Perhaps as it should be, some might say. But the home team already has advantage enough with four out of seven games at home. When you add a format in which only two teams in 27 years have ever swept the middle three games at home, it's even tougher to win than in the other rounds.

So, in short, the 2-3-2 format most definitely did not kill Boston in 1985. The Celtics had extra-strength homecourt advantage and, regardless of whatever reason/excuse we want to come up with, they failed to protect it.

Yeah 1985 was more about Bird being hurt and his shooting being atrocious. If he's totally healthy then Boston probably wins the series.

So should we change the thread title to: 1985 Finals -- Did Larry Bird's stupidity kill Boston?

Probably a better question as well.
