stating the obvious. melo-iso-ball is a losing formula. bottom line.

any coach that doesn't demand changes in the way melo operates will fail to win with him as the featured star.

People love talk about how PJ only coaches top talent, but consistently fail to mention how that same top talent had failed to achieve a title until he got there. How many rings did MJ and all of his greatness win before PJ and how many did he win after? How many rings did that supposed stacked LA team win with a 2x Hall of Famer in Rudy T and a slew of other unsuccessful coaches with the same talent before PJ? And how many did they win with PJ?

And lol @ Knicks fans taking pot shots at a top two coach of all-time, simply because your organization chose to commit salary cap suicide for style over substance. Can anybody say ISO-MELO? It doesn't have the same ring as ISO JOE but its not too far off. LOL

Phil has an ich right now because the Finals are on. He was winning his 11th ring as a head coach just 2 years ago and bring celebrated as the greatest coach ever in any sport.

But PJ wants to own.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

Kobe only SG in NBA history to lead his team in assists for 10 seasons.

Old Phil got his pink panties in a bunch, because James Dolan never called him or wanted him.

This is just as much about the horror of working for MSG/James Dolan as it is the roster. Knicks ownership/decisions made have just been beyond flaky.. Ask Larry Brown, Mike D'antoni, Donnie Walsh, Lenny Wilkens how much of a thrill it was to work under such a loyal, intelligent owner.

But yes the roster is clumsy, he said it perfect, amare is a system player, this is a fact, and no offense can flow consistently with the current melo in it. A good coach and a new mindset from Melo can fix this, but that's asking alot. Amare is not the problem when it comes to chemistry, he is what he is, its not like he is selfish he just is not as versatile as some other all-star caliber bigs, his problem is the injuries.

Knicks fans are funny.

First of all Kobe plays in a brutal Western Conference. Second he lost to last year's eventual champions in Dallas and to OKC who very well could win it all.

By this reasoning, you could say the same about the Knicks.

Are you talking about the Lakers or Rockets there with Rudy T? because when Rudy T coached the Lakers, Shaq had already been traded.

He's not wrong, though. The Knicks were assembled by an idiot, they are not a team that has good balance, good off/def split, a great star, etc. They really don't have the foundation to compete for rings. They have a foundation to compete for a playoff spot and get canned in one of the first two rounds. I'm not sure a guy who has nearly a dozen titles would really be content with that kind of opportunity, because that team needs to be blown apart and redesigned before it'll go anywhere.

Also, there's the hint there that he doesn't like Melo as a foundation player. Notice how he had positive things to say about Amare before effectively calling him a system player? And then all he said about Melo was that he has to quit sucking as a passer? It echoed a lot of comments he had about Kobe over the years, the ball-stopping and stuff, only Kobe's about a zillion times more effective a scorer and used to be a way better defender as well (note to Kobe-ites: not a shot at Bryant).

I think he's objecting because the team is in disarray and he's not a huge Melo fan.
