KD would have tied the game with the freethrows and Miami would have once again crumbled under pressure. Lame ass refs.
Edit: Also, it's amazing how many people have now changed their answer to block LOLLLL. What the hell were you doing when they showed the replay ?? Open your damn eyes

Thats the quality sky knicks post i was looking for, good post yet again

Clearly a charge.

Great post

Durant was in the air before Battier's feet were set. Block.

If Battier didn't shuffle his feet it would have been a charge. That being said it really should have been left as a no call.

Clearly a block, Battier hadn't set his feet once Durant took off.

Anytime. Are there are any other foolish thoughts you have that need debunking ? Any clearly obvious things you're struggling with ? Perhaps you want to argue that the sky is green ?

He had established position before Durant decided to go up for his shot. You can moonwalk on the spot for all anyone cares at that point, therefore this is a charge.
Once a defender has established legal guarding position, the offensive player has to make a move in which the defender will lose this position. This involves the offensive player getting their head and 1 shoulder past the defensive player. Durant never did this, so it's a charge.

Charge. But haters can lie to themselves if it makes them feel better. I'd like to the same thing on the other side of the court with LBJ, and then the Durant shot in the end missed by LBJ. They would say LBJ is a choker and he should have fouled out.
The truth is that's a charge, and LBJ fouled in the last shot. But OK, some people will never admit the charge part cause they like to lie to themselves so they can feel better about it.

It seems to me cutting off someones movement is one of the most basic essentials of defense. As it currently is it already favors the offensive player because the defender only is allowed to be in a space if it is substantially ahead of the offensive player. To me if a defender bumps into an offensive player by getting there at the same time or very slightly before it should not reward someone in FTs.
Also there is no way to say they are rejecting playing actual defense by cutting off a lane. This causes the offensive player to make adjustments or miss a lot of shots. Seems like actual defense to me, and as it is there are rule limitations on other defensive options without being called for fouls.
The defender is supposed to be challenging shots, not pretending he's a defenseless puppy. We have charging rules in place because we don't want offensive players acting like running backs, but when Battier gets hit here he's not an innocent hit by a bulldozer, he's choosing to pretend to be a statue (and failing) instead of giving us actual on ball play. Why would anyone want to encourage this behavior?
Ding Ding Ding.
It is anti-basketball. Defend the shot.

Because he was there in time. You can moonwalk all you want when you're in front of an offensive player, you just can't move into them. Battier was there, he can shuffle all the damn well he wants because he had established his position.
You realize that establishing position and shuffling your feet are mutually exclusive propositions, right?

it doesn't matter if the defender's feet are moving. u can still be in position for a charge as long as u get there before KD leaves the floor.
i dont think it's an ez call to make, it's a 50/50 in real time. either it's a no call or you give the benefit of the doubt to the player on offense. if you call a charge, you better be absolutely sure you're right.
