Players you thought who would be good/great out of HS

Postby ecnirp on Sat Jun 16, 2012 8:09 pm

For the people who followed the NBA players when they were coming out of HS

The Good
LeBron
Carmelo
Amare
Durant
Josh Smith
DRose
Rudy Gay

The Bad

Gerald Green (still holding out hope *sigh*)
Sebastian Telfair (ouch)
Eddy Curry
OJ Mayo (Hasnt lived up to the hype...had me thinking he was Kobe lite...yeesh..)
Greg Oden
Jonathan Bender (Durant like shooting and athleticism...just couldnt play basketball and was always hurt...*sigh*)

Just off the top of my head of guys I was touting on RealGm (when I use to have another account) As you can see I really missed on some of these guys.

oj and oden were good out of highschool but when they came to the nba oj tragically ended up playing for hollins in his second year and oden became victim to the portland medical staff

Also I don't think anyone predicted Rose being this good, wasn't he ranked fifth as highschool recruit after Beasley, Mayo, Love, and Gordon?

Telfair stands out the most to me. That kid was just rammed down our throats, and he never came close. Classic New York City hype job.

I knew D-Rose would be good after I saw this game.

And I knew Jennings was a little overhyped coming out. Dude was a straight up chucker in HS.

Op is only saying Oden because of what transpired with him. He was easily the number 1 prospect coming out of high school

Sorry for the confusion. All the players mentioned are player I THOUGHT WOULD BE GOOD. I divided them up into good/bad. To show which ones lived up to my expectations. Oden being listed as bad, means I got it wrong (obviously injuries are what setback his career)

I knew Rose was going to be elite. Figured Beasley would be Melo esque'. Mayo just needs a better situation. Gerald Green disappointed me, but I'm holding hope as well.
