Speaking of the Lions on a basketball forum, there was a good article on NFL.com by an NFL analyst callingthe Lions the OKC Thunder of the NFL.

He equated Durant to Megatron, Westbrook to Stafford, and Harden to Suh, in terms of a young Big 3 of stars built through high draft picks, now finally paying off after years of losing. I thought it was pretty accurate comparison.

Too bad the Thunder isn't a team full of knuckle-heads that can't seem to stay out of trouble with either the law or their leagues' respective Commissioner.

btw, Calvin and Stafford are two of the best character guys in the league and are the faces of the team. Even Montana and Rice had knuckle-heads on their team. You can't define the whole team by the role players.

You're right I just love making fun of Lions fans after the Bears' disappointing season last year. The Lions actually have a great young nucleus and should be competitive in the division for years to come. But this year it's all Bears homie...

I'm a DMV guy as well...I'd say caps fans are more fairweather than anything. I've never really pegged DC as a hockey town. You are right though, when the wiz are decent, then they become number 2. Skins dominate here though.

Football is usually the most popular in most places. It's the best 'casual fan' sport there is, so it generally attracts a larger audience.

As such, for Denver..

4. Avalanche

The Broncos have and always will be the top team, regardless. #2 varies depending on which one is having the most success, but baseball usually has the upper hand with the leisurely outdoor environment. The Avs do better here than hockey probably does in most places(especially when they had their run of dominance between 95-05). The Nuggets, well, have never really gotten a ton of support. It's definitely gotten much better in the past decade, but it'll probably take a few deep playoff runs to really get people excited about them.
