I never understood why even on losing teams coaches don't play rookies. Unless your a Larry Brown who thinks rookies are middle school players, it just doesn't make sense.

Yanking a young player from a game is a good way to get a message across to him. Even if he's doing other things well, there may not be much incentive to correct the things he's doing wrong if he's still going to get playing time anyway.

Funny how most fans are complaining about rookies getting benched in close games, while Mark Jackson is closing games with Barnes, Green, and Ezeli all in the lineups.

Saw Barnes live vs the Cavs and wasnt impressed he was thinking too much rather than playing.

However, a switch has gone off and he is playing at a high level right. I'll get to see how he has progressed live again tonight vs the nets and specifically against a solid wing defender in gerald wallace.

Coaches care more about W/L records than ensuring a young player has more than enough minutes to develop. If a rookie absolutely deserves the minutes, he will get them, otherwise a coach will probably bring them along slowly so that the league doesn't see all their weaknesses too early.

Also, I generally use the excuse that coaches see more of their players in practice, and do the development there (games are for show casing), so they generally have a better handle on how much a rookie can contribute.

The problem with that is that Ross and Valanciunas would actually contribute right away to us winning. We terribly lack perimeter defense and shooting, two of which Ross provides and was the exact reason why we drafted him. Valanciunas gobbles up rebounds and can alter shots because he knows how to rotate on the help and because of his length. Two things we always get killed in in the fourth quarter.

Also although they are rookies one thing that impressed me the most about them is that they don't play like it. Sure Ross has some dumb turnovers but overall he's been well composed whenever he's played, and it's not like our other players don't make the same ones either.

For the most part I do agree that fans complain about their rotations too much and that no one knows their team better than the coaches, but this is just going too far. It seems like minutes are being given out irrespective of talent and what constructs a winning basketball team.

Waiters with 16 points and 6 assists but 7/22 shooting. Still having trouble finishing at the rim/fading on jumpers. Not getting any open looks without Kyrie.

Waiters is reminding me of Allen Iverson, But in a bad way. Dion Jamison? :-?
The positives is his defense and his play making ability.

On another note Byron needs to force him to attack the basket every chance he gets, He did some nice things when he attacked. Is he scared to attack or is he just comfortable being the second coming of antwan?

MKG and Taylor are incredible rookie defenders. Also clutch as hell. Bobcats 5-0 in games decided by 6 points and Taylor was huge in 3 of them.

How does that matter in a rookie thread? (no matter whether you are right or not)

Rich Cho is good at drafting.

Henson was awesome today. Hopefully he has earn't some more playing time. Although we never know with Skiles and his crazy rotations.
