So what? It's ROY, not MVP.

Portland fan?

Well, I'm a Portland fan. Lillard is playing great, really great. MKG and Davis are too though. Drummond even, in limited minutes has been awesome. This should be a great ROY race, but honestly I don't see anyone beating Davis unless he stinks it up for a month or two.

Yeah he might still have a chance to catch Lillard.

@Bskey

I thought Cro_Ruption must be a PDX fan.

He is as far as I know, I don't mind people being a bit homerish, every fan is whether they admit it or not but trying to act like Davis wasn't great because his team lost is just...yeah.

Davis needs to develop a bit as a playmaker. It's good how he works for now, because he has been keeping his turnovers pretty low by looking to attack quickly and not fool around with the ball.

We'll see. The way Davis is rebounding and playing defense, it's going to take someone outscoring him significantly to take ROY from him, and that doesn't look likely at this point.

Davis, is the front runner. No one can argue with that.

Lillard is second to Davis IMO.

Don't forget about Kidd-Gilchrist, he has also been amazing so far.

Portland fan. Lillard has convinced me he's legit, as likely to be a cold blooded clutch player as any young guy besides maybe Irving. He has had a bigger effect making the Blazers look decent than even Aldridge has had, the kid is a winner and makes everyone look better.

None the less, I have kept saying ROY is the Davis' to lose. If he doesn't stink it up, at worst they will co-ROY, but my intuition says the #1 pick will get it if push comes to shove.

I agree that Anthony Davis has a great shot at winning the ROY. And even though I'm a Portland fan and love Lillard, it wouldn't shock me if Davis wins the ROY. What has set Davis back was his the missed games due to injury. That's why he hasn't been on anybody's radar lately.

And again, even though I'm high on Lillard, I believe at this time from what I know, Davis is the long term better investment. But I still hope Lillard somehow wins the ROY! :D

Yeah, best defender in the draft. And elite slashing ability.

It's crazy to think that Gilchrist is most probably the best defender in a draft involving Davis...

not really. MKG was more physically ready to defend his position. davis is still a 220 lb PF, who's also playing some C.

also, check these numbers out.

overall PPP against- .94
FG% against- 44%
%scored against- 40.9%

overall PPP against- .85
FG% against- 35.4%
%scored against- 37.2%

one of them is MKG. the other is ....harrison barnes
it's early, but im just saying.

Barnes is starting to pick up steam and he'll get a lot of run with rush out for the year. What he did against a good defender in kirilenko was impressive, has a nice stretch of games he's stringing together.

Drummond is actually looking like the best and most impactful defender

Valanciunas would have had a word with you two....if it wasn't for Bargnani making him look bad defensively.

Ive seen Jonas V play, he's good defensively but Drummond is noticeable better. But, I agree that Jonas V is also a more impactful defender than MGK. Kidd-Gilchrist will likely be the best perimeter defender from the draft, but certainly a defensive bigman is more valuable than a defensive wing.

Drummond's the best defensive-oriented big from this class. Davis has the capability to be a force on both ends so him being labeled as merely a defensive big didn't do him justice.

The problem (or is it the solution) is that Detroit is in tanking mode.

I don't see it.

I think he's actually looking lost quite often defensively, and quite a few baskets are directly on him.

Not writing him off at all obviously, he's a rookie big and as such those are common mistakes to make and he showed when he knows where to be etc he's an absolute force - not to mention his weight that's keeping him from staying balanced through contact and making him pushed under the rim more often.

But he is not playing anything close to terrific defense yet, and i've watched 80% of his games so far - especially in PNR situations when he hedges too much and doesn't return in time, or when he roams too much out of his position and giving open jumpers - but also in the post where again he's pushing under the rim far too easily giving a high % shot.
