The Grizzlies are good but they are riding some unsustainable shooting percentages from their bench. I expect Pondexter and Bayless to crash down to Earth hard on their 3pt percentages. Neither of them have proven to be close to elite from long range. Ellington might be okay, but not 45% okay. Going into tonight's game, those three have combined for 48.6% 3pt on 9.1 attempts a game. If that continues, Memphis will be close to unbeatable. But it probably won't continue.

Probably not, but it's not unreasonable to expect a big bump in the 3pt% for guys playing next to two dominant low post presences and maybe the best passing big man in the league. That wasn't true at any point last year for Pondexter, and it's never been true of Bayless or Ellington. Like the Dwight era magic or the prime Duncan spurs on paper the griz are built to generate career high 3p%s for their role players, though they don't have much of a record of actually doing it before now...

At best, they'll lose in conference semifinals.

I have them as favorites to win the title this year. Just so deep and talented to the point where they could sustain an injury to one of their best players and take it better than any other team in the league.

Best team in the NBA right now, its funny how OKC, and LA got all the hype. This Memphis team is better than both. Miami won't be able to beat them with small ball either. Learned the hard way

They took OKC to 7 games a couple of years ago, why would they not be legit with more experience? Don't forget ZBO wasn't 100% last season.

Mark Gasol is really good.. top 3 center easily.

they are really good - great chemistry, coaching and solid roster with a solid chance to make at least WCF this year, cant see them beating OKC or LAL tho, unless they get HCA which isnt unlikely. Its scary how good they are @ home, on road not so much yet.

This team is way different then the Hawks. This Grizz team beat Heat, Spurs and Knicks all in one week. If everyone stays healthy I can see them top 4 in West.

Their frontcourt hasn't played all that much time together healthy and in sync over the past 4 years so it's easy to underestimate them. I think we're finally going to see the true potential of the Gay/Randolph/Gasol trio this season. Also Conley is set to start experiencing his prime years in the NBA. Considering their familiarity with eachother, and the fact that they are all at or near their prime, the Grizzlies starting 5 may be the best in the NBA .

I wouldn't mind a Knicks/Grizzlies finals.

Honestly I wouldn't mind any finals as long as the Lakers aren't there.

Yes it is. Randolph is healthy, they have a reliable backup PG, something they lacked since Lowry left (Vasquez was good but very inconsistent a couple years back) and they're all in the same page, no distractions or players with his "own agenda".
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

I love Memphis because they take advantage of their bigs.
