I saw this quoted on the Celtics board, and it got me thinking, Is this the season where we officially start to see Rondo in the prime of his career? Or did it start last year with his fantastic playoff run and winning the APG award?

Rajon Rondo is the 1st player in NBA history to have 121+ assists and 30 or fewer turnovers in his first 9 games of a season (per Elias).

The next question would be, how far do you see this kid going? I know Rondo gets a lot of hate on this website for some reason, but the guy is playing at an unbelievable level right now considering where he started those 6 seasons ago. My homerism sees him being a top 3 MVP candidate for the next few seasons, but I know people will disagree with me.

We very well could be. IMO, he's never going to be a traditional 20/10 PG -- he seems to be more along the lines of John Stockton, where he's going to score in the mid-teens and dish in the low double digits consistently. Now obviously he's not the shooter that Stockton was, but again as far as his numbers themselves go, they're more than likely going to look like Stockton's( As they already do )

Well to me, he's virtually tied with Chris Paul for best PG in the league. His jumper is slowly improving and once he gets that to a respectable level, he's going to be near unstoppable. He's got that huge assist streak alive and could probably keep it alive playing 20 minutes a night if he wanted to. The dude is scary good.

One of the greatest facilitators of all time if he isn't already there now.

Rondo is too young to be in his prime IMO. There may be another level he could get to. This may be his best years right now though because who knows if he will play with players like Kevin and Paul

Playoff time is his prime time.

Yea think hes in the MVP discussion. He has a lot more room to grow I think. And he should def be in the league for a while, his game is similar to J-Kidd

No.1 play maker but still cannot be relied to score or shoot... But elite defense and passing.. 6'1 version of Jason Kidd... A Jason Kidd Lite

He CAN shoot, he CAN hit free throws, but his mentality really messes with him. If he somehow pulls himself together and becomes the complete player he needs to be, watch out.

As good as prime Kidd or better IMO.

Yeah sometimes he is too fancy for his own good.

Jason Kidd actually played defense

He is very good, but its odd to me that his game would fit better in an different era.

Rondo: 14.3/12.6 (Todays game not included...Points would be a lower assists would be higher)

Just to compare.

Obviouslt there are other numbers and stats and things to put into discussion ( Nash FT and 40/50/90 and Rondo defense)

If this is his prime and he can put those numbers up he may not ever win the MVP but he will be a great contributing player.

Most of his assists are already set up before he even crosses half court. Avery Bradley stepped into his role last year and actually improved the team's dismal ORTG. Every year that he's received more responsibility in the offense, the worse the Celtics offense has gotten, and despite what Celtic fans will tell you, Nash has dominated the top ten offenses of all time without strong offensive rebounding.

Sorry? I'm just providing direct evidence that specifically contradicts what Celtics fans say about the teams god awful ORTG. Just because it involves a past player doesn't mean I'm having a nostalgia moment, it does however mean I'm using real evidence with a huge sample size (in this case anyway).
