a rich mans pippen. i think he has unreal potential. i think he can be the best wing defender of all time, while being a great trasnition player and leader.

22/9/4/4 in his prime while leading his team to title contentions

Lets wait and be patient.

His offensive game is still too raw, though his defense and intangibles are great, and this kid strikes me as the type with excellent work ethic.

The comparisons with Pippen are way too premature though. Remember this kind of talk happened with Iguodala early in his career also, and while Iggy is a nice player, he hasnt reached that Pippen-like level and is a mediocre offensive player, with no jump-shot whatsoever.

Remember also, that as much as I loved Pippen, you can blame Jordan for pushing him to be the best he could be. Not that he wouldnt have been an allstar without Jordan, but he maxed out as a top-5 player of the league in many seasons thanks to that, and I dont think before the draft or after the 2 first years in his career, nobody thought Pippen would become what he became.

Kidd-Gilchrist doesnt have that Jordan to push him, so I dont know.

He could very well average that in the second half of this season. Let alone his prime.

People need to remember Pippen wasnt even elite until his 4th year when he was already 25. MKG just turned 19 recently and is putting up way better numbers than Pippen put up when he was a rookie(when he was 22). Chances are MKG won't be as good as Pippen but he has the potential to be even better imo.

I expect him to become Gerald Wallace- Shawn Marion hybrid with more offensive versatility as his most likely scenario. (20ppg, 9rpg, 3.5apg, 2.5spg, 1.5bpg)

Ceiling is probably close to Pippen's level, and his floor is likely somewhere below Iguodala.

The fact that MKG's been so good already and is barely 19 scares me.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Funny just how many people prior to the draft were saying he couldnt be anything more than a role player..

Guy has had elite NBA star written all over him since his early teens, his skillset alone outside of his jumper is outstanding.. the fact he has a rare fire and determination that only the trully great players have is what sets him apart, especially on the defensive end

He will max out with even better stats than the top option in the poll, with 1st team all defence and as the leader of a winning team

There's a lot more to what the Bobcats have done this season than just MKG (coaching, training camp, Kemba etc) but the entire energy and focus of the team has changed, you can see what Calipari was saying about this kid after just days of being on a stacked Kentucky team with the likes of Darius Miller, Terrence Jones.. HE was the leader, the organizer, the motor... and it's not taking him very long to realise he can, and will be that at the NBA level too

absolute joy to watch this guy... he's 19 freakin years old.. imagine what 5 years + in the league is going to do for his game

^That's exactly the difference between someone like MKG and Wallace or Iguodala. His work ethic and leadership is inspiring to others. You can't help but to fall in line when a player like that comes around. Same thing happened when Derrick Rose went to the Bulls or Wade with the Heat.

There's a reason people are saying better than Pippen. The guy is already a plus/minus warrior and will likely end up with the best +/- stats this seasons for any other player in Bobcats history (including Gerald Wallace's monster seasons 3-5 years ago). That should tell you how good he is; that and he is doing this with a broken jumper. I could see him stealing ROY if he keeps it up.

Um, pick is protected dude. By the time Charlotte gets the pick it'll be a mid-late first-rounder.

Pippen could play PG. Can MKG? Serious question, I haven't seen much of him.

The pick is lottery protected this year, but then its only top 8 protected next year, and top 1 protected year after. Given that Joe Dumars has been a complete idiot of late the pick could end up being very nice for Charlotte, or it could be a mid round pick.

Late round pick? Doubtful

I thought the irony was intended. I enjoyed it.

It's tough to set a realistic ceiling on a physically gifted kid who has played less than a dozen games. The sky's the limited for that kind of player, but a LOT of what-ifs have to go in his favor for him to be a "rich-man's Pippen". Pippen was really great.
